Indeed, one of the 2017 NFL Draft's top prospects is already proposing a trade. The star defensive end from Texas A&M, a Texas native, would like to play in his home state for America's team, and he has a suggestion for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones:

"I'm speaking to you, Jerry," Garrett said in a video filmed last Dec. at the College Football Awards (but posted on Friday by ESPN). "Mr. (coach Jason) Garrett, make it happen. Dak Prescott leads our team right now. I need you to take Tony Romo, take a couple picks, and give them to Cleveland so you can pick me up. Please, I'd love to play in Dallas, just make it happen."

Jerry loves Tony too much to let Stephen do that to him.

Garrett better have back up plans or some really good financial advisors because he won't be in the NFL in 5 years.

I'd be nervous about playing in Cleveland too.

He wants to stay in Texas with the hopes that the Cowboys will schedule Southwestern Northeast Texas State Tech Community College so he can beast out with a season's worth of sacks.

Talked to an LSU offensive lineman who said that Garrett told them DURING the game that he was "taking it easy and not trying to get hurt"

He recorded like two tackles and 0 sacks against LSU.

Sounds like a guy that the Cowboys need.

John Elway and Eli Manning approve of this strategy.

It's kinda crazy how he and Derek Barnett are polar opposites in terms of non-conference/conference production.

Amusing that all these aggie greats have such big heads when they get to the pros. They seem to really think that they are bigger than the game. Coaching?

He was. It was apparently filmed during some ESPN thing.

Sadly an ESPN link

quote:

Garrett spoke with ESPN's Sam Khan Jr. In the interview, Garrett confirmed that the video taken by an ESPN social media producer in early December and posted Friday was purely in fun.

quote:

Question: Explain how the video came about:

Garrett: "I had been interviewing with a young woman that was there at the red carpet [for the college football awards show]. She sat down and she was like 'OK, I have an idea for one more thing.' I was like 'All right.' She said 'It's 100 percent fun and say whatever you want to say, have a message toward any coach or any owner who you'd like to speak to for your favorite team. Just say whatever you want and have fun. It doesn't have to be serious, just play around with it.' I was like 'All right.' So I said what has been going around [from Friday's release of the video] and it was supposed to be pretty much a joke and not taken too seriously. It kind of got blown up."

Absolutely surprising that a sports network would release this "controversial" video at a dead time in the year. I never would have thought that ESPN would stoop so low.
