Arguing with foreigners about American football quickly becomes exasperating. The same goes for explaining why I mostly don't like soccer. I don't want to watch Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal compete for the Premier League title every year with a Man City or Liverpool thrown in intermittently for some variety (or Barca/Madrid, AC/Inter/Juve, Bayern). I don't like how the dual international and club schedule leaves both fractured and disjointed. I dislike the transfer system. I dislike penalties and their ridiculous impact on the game, especially without the benefit of a review system.

Penn State fans looking the other way from joe pa's complicity in the sandusky thing.

People who think Kobe Bryant is a better basketball player than Michael Jordan, leaving aside Lebron.

Delusional Oregon fans who truly believe their high-octane offense and its 57.8ppg or whatever depending on the year will hold up against elite defenses in November with injuries/weather/lots of film to study.

Boise State fans during their run thinking they'd recreate their results in a major conference.

SEC fans insisting that XYZ BCS team would finish 6-6 with a typical SEC schedule. A&M and Missouri and their redshirt freshman quarterback say hello.

Tennessee fans who feel like Charles Woodson over Peyton Manning was the biggest heist in Heisman history. Both guys had a legitimate case. It's like people forget Woodson led a defense that allowed less than 10 points a game on a team that went 12-0 and won the Rose Bowl. Ok, it's unusual for a defensive player to win. But hasn't his NFL career underlined his supreme talent? He wasn't some media-created monster, like Manti Teo. He was the best defensive player in the country, clearly. That's taking nothing away from Peyton, who's a fricking legend.

He was stating that Jim Harbaugh is the best coach in the league, not could be. IMO it is delusional to say that a coach that has never won a Super Bowl is the best coach in the league.

As far as the C level quarterback, remember last year Kaep was being named the second coming of great quarterbacks by most everyone.

Well Brady was a 2nd year back up QB when he won that first superbowl. He was far from an elite QB at that point. So he has

And with Matt Cassel he went 10-6 and one of two teams in NFL history to miss the playoffs with that record so who knows how that couldve played in

Give Jim Harbaugh a C-Level defense and see what happens. I bet he wont make a conference championship or a superbowl

i just spit my coffee out. Miles is no where near the 2nd best coach on any unit of measure
nowhere near 2nd?

Are you saying since Miles too over at LSU, you could name 5+ coaches whose teams have had more success than Miles's team?

I can only name 2, which is very much 2nd best.

I had a very serious USL fan/coworker try and tell me that they were in line for an invitation to the Big 12. I told him that in the best interests of his career it would be wise to never say that again.

LSU fan this year was convinced that a one-loss LSU would pass an undefeated FSU/Clemson in the BCS.

Fans of multiple sec teams really thought Au paid Cam and hid it in the church building fund back in 2010.

Come on. There is a reasonable probability Auburn paid Cam to come to Auburn. That is not so far fetched since we know for a fact that his dad was shopping him around. I think it is likely but we will never know for sure. But to put that in the same league as some of the other things on here is pure homerism.

I have no idea if the church was involved but his Dad did admit to shopping him and that gif of him doing his "ongoing investigation, can't comment" shite-eating grin is as good of a confession as you're going to get

Gun to anyone's head they would have to guess Cam was paid to go to Auburn. Is he the only one getting paid? Definitely not IMO.

I believe he got paid, but I don't really care because it happens everywhere. It's also imo that they should be paid.

He was getting defensive about it, too. He kept saying, "y'all don't know. Y'all just don't know how bad it was. Bryant had ties with the FBI."

I had a friend who swore up and down eli was better than Peyton. "2 rings are better than 1". I wonder what is this dumbass saying now that Peyton is on pace to win MVP, while eli is on pace to throw 30+ picks.

That Bama was GOAT program.

Dude didn't know about the South's segregated football back in the day...and 1/2 of their "titles" were either won playing SEC white country-club football or against Northern/Western teams Bama lost to that year.

Easy winning - when you're playing against a bunch of white dudes.

Whitey Goats, I suppose. It's a shame. Myths get repeated ala Civil War...but reality in plain sight...go watch the games on old Tape...those are a bunch of white people running around out there playing only white people.

Bama was 2-13 against schools outside of the SEC during his heyday - while he owned the SEC and had something like a .890 win %...

Just proves - if you stock your football programs full of white boys - you suck.

Bama's history is full of best of suck. They are the best of suck. Hats off to them.

But they sucked against USC, Big10 and Big12. Because those schools had black athletes because they weren't bigots.

I have a friend who likes to make outrageous claims on what he could do in sports. He says if he had 100 possessions against Lebron James (playing his best defense and fatigue not an issue) he would score at least once. He's 5'10 and played 2 years of HS basketball. He also claims he could get 1 hit off Clayton Kershaw in 100 AB. He didnt even play HS baseball. Says he would just either sit on the curveball all day or time up his fastball and get enough contact once to get a hit. Interestingly enough he doesn't make any claims regarding football even though he was an all state player

my stepdad is the biggest Alabama fan I know. So there have been plenty of times where he talks about the history of the team to the best of his knowledge. Although obnoxious, he does know his shite.

anyway, he swears up and down that Alabama was the best team in college football in 1989. He never really gave Auburn credit for beating them in Auburn for the first time ever. He pointed to a few questionable calls from Bill Curry (a fake field goal) and a fumble by Kevin Turner later on in the game. According to him it was self destruction... no credit to Auburn at all.

but it gets worse.

He really thinks Alabama was better than Miami that year.

I've seen the tape of that Sugar Bowl game a few times. In no fricking way does Alabama's secondary have a snow ball's chance in hell of slowing that passing attack down.

and don't forget, All American LB Keith McCants got TRUCKED by some RB from Miami that you've never heard of.

the guy is the ultimate Bama homer but listening to him arguing about the 1989 Alabama team makes me want to fricking puke.

other than that, he makes great points and is usually fair when talking about Alabama Football.

but he's almost impossible to watch a game with.

The one i had today was a Bama fan that claimed that they were signing 15 5 star recruits and 7 from the state of Louisiana including Fournette and Cam Sims (which he claimed was a 5 star)

The best one i had was a while back early in the season when a Saints/Bama fan (actually he proclaimed he was a Michigan fan until they started to suck) and claimed that Drew Brees was the only QB in the league that was allowed and had the ability to audible at the line of scrimmage. He said Brady on the other hand can only change protections

holy shite

I have another one. A friend of mine says his high school team would blow out a Georgia state or southern Miss team by 20. His team is a powerhouse I'll admit that. I think from this last roster 7 seniors going d1 and some underclassmen are also signed. Great high school team.but no way in hell could they legitimately compete at ?the d1 level. Hell I wouldn't give them a shot at an fcs school. Id give them a shot to win at d2 like that, but only against ?the average to below average teams. They wouldn't have a chance at ?the actual good d2 teams. Now I would concede and say yes his team would dominate d3. But d1 football is a HUGE difference between high school football, period.
