King Felix Hernandez

He isn't going anywhere
This has been refuted so many times that I lost count. The Mariners are not going to trade Felix Hernandez this year.

The Cubs are going to send Dempster to LA, along with LaHair or maybe even Garza. They will get Zach Lee and other prospects back.

No doubt that Felix Hernandez is a good pitcher, but what exactly is he the King of?

The Dodgers would top Dempster's list of potential destinations, followed by the Braves, Ken Rosenthal reported yesterday.

Brandon McCarthy and maybe Suzuki, but I don't know if either are healthy.

It's hard to determine if the A's are going to be buyers or sellers. The next week of games will determine that, along with what Billy Beane's vision for the future is with this squad. I really hope they hangout to this core group. Cespedes, Moss, Weeks, Milone, Parker, BMac. They could be competing for the division by next year if they make a couple of smart moves that keeps their good young talent in Oakland. A fire sale will really piss me off.

I am interested to see what the Angels do. The only chips they really have are Bourjos, who I hope they don't trade, and Segura, who is behind Aybar and Kendrink and both of whom recently received contract extensions.

I think the Angels are waiting to see what Haren does in his first outing post-break to see if they need SP or whether they could afford to only get a reliever. Regarding Bourjos, I really hope they keep him. I see the Angels outfield in a couple years as Trout in LF, Bourjos in CF, and Trumbo in RF. I have been pleasantly surprised with Trumbos defense as of late. He is really picking up the outfield.

It will be interesting how teams approach the deadline withe the extra wildcard. Olney said that some have been hesitant to really buy in as contenders when you are really only talking about a 1 game playoff.

Angels will have a tough time making the postseason if they just stay the course. Don't think having Haren and Santana pitching like garbage is going to get it done.

And any deal they make WILL be centered around Bourjos you can count on that. Just depends on what teams are willing to give them.

Saw this a little while ago:

quote:

The Angels continue to seek relief help, even as they pursue high-end rotation upgrades, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports. They have talked to the Nationals about bullpen help and could have interest in Royals closer Jonathan Broxton, Knobler adds. Here’s the latest on the Angels, who now have a 50-41 record:

The Angels are willing to offer Peter Bourjos for the right reliever and they're suggesting to teams that they would also deal Kendrys Morales, according to Knobler. Starter Garrett Richards could be available in a deal for a top starter such as Zack Greinke, Cole Hamels or Francisco Liriano.

Bourjos for a reliever? Your thoughts?

Regarding Haren, he had some back issues which are hopefully cleared up and Santana looked ok in his outing the other night. I do think they need another reliever, because as good as the pen had been, it seemed like a mirage to me.

Bourgos for a reliever makes sense if Haren and Santana can progress. Richards looked good as well so who knows. At the end of the day, Bourjos is expendable because of Mike Trout. An OF of Trumbo, Trout, and Hunter would be okay, but then what happens after Hunter leaves.

Morales is interesting because I think he has the potential to be a solid DH for years to come, but if he can help get a quality starter that is under contract for a few years then I am good with trading him.

What?

The Angels are in great shape. I would be very surprised if they missed the playoffs. It would not shock me if they moved Bourjos to get some bullpen help.

I think Haren will rebound nicely. This was Haren's first trip to the DL in his entire career, so I wonder if pitching injured really took a toll on him because he was not used to it. He also had some back issues earlier in the year. Weaver, CJ, and a healthy Haren will be more than enough to pitch the Angels in the playoffs. Ervin Santana is just a bonus.

Haren, historically, dips in the second half.
