Bowden thinks Yankees will try to move prospects from Chapman trade to get Archer, Sale, or Quintana after the season.

I wish the Astros would put together a package for Sale. With Bregman and Gourriel entering the lineup I expect the offense to be improved and I think Sale would help put us over the top in the playoffs

Andrew Cashner is reportedly who Texas is targeting now.

Meanwhile the oft-mentioned Gallo has been called up. Trade tryout against MLB pitching, perhaps?

(In other Rangers news, Hoying sent down when Gallo was called up. Lohse DFA and really needs to look at his post-baseball career.)

Vincent Velasquez being targeted by the Rangers. At this point, I think the list of pitchers they aren't targeting is shorter

Why would the Phils deal VV? That young pitching core is the heart of their rebuild.

Alex Reyes was pulled from his start tonight. Didn't think the Cards were shopping for anything big enough to include Reyes

Possibly getting the start on Saturday because of the double header today

On one hand I'm now ready to pay Cashman whatever he wants after tonight's disaster.

On the other, Dusty will just mess that up too. His pitcher management, as advertised, is the worst.

Dude throws 54 year old Papelbon out there 4 our of 5 days - first pitch, 90. Second pitch, 89. You should yank him right then and there. Sticks with it, Indians walk it off.

Phils aren't gonna part with Velasquez, he was a steal, and projects to be one of their building pieces.

Hell, Mackanin doesn't even want to part with Hellickson, but if the Marlins pay enough to GM Klentak, he's a Marlin. Gonna be somewhere else by end of the deadline. And Jeanmar Gomez could be had for the right price.

The cash considerations going to Seattle in the deal are simply to offset the difference between Storen’s $8.35MM salary and Benoit’s $8MM salary, reports Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune (on Twitter).

10:09pm: The Mariners announced tonight that they have acquired right-hander Drew Storen and cash considerations from the Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Joaquin Benoit.
Storen was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays over the weekend.

How do you propose to get Sale while keeping Bregman in the lineup?

Under Cashman that won't happen...

This. I mean cmon man, the White Sox want back a teams best prospect basically for Sale, plus more. So if the Stros want Sale they'd have to give up Bergman.

So no

I get everyone wants their "team" to get great players without giving up much but at least be close to realistic

The Phillies need pieces

He's young and has 5 years of control. They would seemingly get a haul if they dealt him. A team like Texas has the pieces, too.

Brian Kenny sitting in for Russo and Bruce kind of argued about the Nats and Papelbon.

Kenny says their fine. Bruce says no way, Pap been overused recently, doesn't like the bullpen as a whole, which I agree with. Oliver Perez? You want that guy getting big out for you in Oct/Nov

so what should the Nats do? They've got prospects to go get a Miller (if avail) or a Wade Davis (if avail).

IMO they need to go for it. As a Mets fan, I hope they don't and just keep falling apart but as a general fan I can't see them NOT making a move
