So, they would want to make him starter?
Posted on 7/26/15 at 2:49 pm to msudawg1200
Chapman no...
They would use him as a late inning pitcher, would give them 3 dominant guys who can get 3+ outs. Just because he closes in Cincy doesn't mean the Yankees need a closer but the Yankees wouldn't mind mirroring what KC had last year. A dominating bullpen that makes games 5 innings for the starters.

Miller would still close and Chapman/Betance/wilson would all be guys who Giradi could use leading up to that. Makes sense if CC is going into the 6th and struggling, Yankees up by a run, CC has already allowed a double and a walk. Bring in Chapman or Betance and shut down the rally.

Lots of writers giving reds props for the return they got on cueto.

May be one of their best offers actually...
teams are reluctant to move top prospects and he is a rental. Especially since he is signing with the Angels in FA

Plenty of young arms come spring training. And hell if they get moved to the pen that's fine too. The pen has been a dumpster fire as of late.

No shite.
Definitely need to focus on bats in the other upcoming deals though.

Why are they wanting to move Leake, he is young and under contract for a few more years correct? Solid player in the rotation
Posted on 7/26/15 at 3:31 pm to tduecen
Leake will be a free agent this winter.

Ah thought he was signed through 2017

Walt might as well try to field offers for Votto.
What a horrible contract the Reds are left with. Deal him, that contract is brutal.
2016 32 Cincinnati Reds $20,000,000
2017 33 Cincinnati Reds $22,000,000
2018 34 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2019 35 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2020 36 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2021 37 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2022 38 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2023 39 Cincinnati Reds $25,000,000
2024 40 Cincinnati Reds *$20,000,000 | *$20M Team Option, $7M Buyout
look at his age, along with how long this deal runs. This makes Pujols bad deal a little easier to swallow.

Seems like the worst contract is baseball, but that's always saying a lot.

Votto has had a nice season, but nobody in their right mind is trading for that contract.
Don't see why the Yankees would want Aroldis.
Didn't expect much in return for Cueto under the circumstances.
If the Reds don't improve their hitting, Jocketty has to go. He should go anyway, IMO.

His contract isn't awful yet. Votto skillset is very age friendly. It's worse for smallish market team like the Reds though. They had too though, we can't get those types of players in FA and we had a great team.
