I don't know about the "football state" argument because of the high school baseball talent around Louisiana and the fact that we lead the nation in attendance in the NCAA every year with LSU. SO baseball is very relevant to Louisiana. It just the market. Baseball has failed in Shreve before

MLB teams have to have huge metros because of the amount of weekday games, its not the NFL where you can bank on people traveling in for games. so, shreveport-=fail.

Why would you say Shreveport? If any city would get an MLB team it would be New Orleans or maybe Baton Rouge, but they still wouldn't do it.

This is a conversation I had with a guy at work. Im not a baseball fan at all. I keep up with LSU baseball and thats it! Told him a team in La wouldnt work. Just got me thinkin and was wondering if I was the only one that thought that is wouldnt work.

Yeah, I mean Texas is definitely a football first state and baseball is fine here. Population is the biggest factor. With the sheer number of games played at home, you need an arse load of people to draw fans from.

You probably changed your opinion to this once everyone started laughing at your thread...

not that it would happen, but basketball would have a much better shot than baseball. less fans to fill up the seats and night games. you would be lucky to draw 3,000 fans on a week day in Shreveport.

I'm not sure about that. 41 games is a lot. You would need about 12K a game too. But yes, thats a better shot than 35K for 81 games.

Like I said before, I cant stand baseball outside of LSU. So I could give a frick less about a baseball team in La. Just askin a simple question.

Yea, they could attract people from Arkansas and East Texas. I don't see how it wouldn't work.

Lafayette would support a MLB team better than S-port.

Get back in 15-20 years and, if the economy gets right and I-49 ever gets finished, I could maybe, MAYBE see a pro team of some sort in Shreveport. Now? No chance it'd survive a season.

think about how much people like LSU baseball?

Think about them playing a super regional at home?

do you think you could get 30,000 at a minimum each just for those 3 games?

Now try doing that 80 times when no one gives a shite b/c they are playing on tues, wed, thur against some shitty team

it would never work........never.

Louisiana's best chance is New Orleans. Make that chance even better they should make a stadium with retractable roof that could be used for both the Saints and an MLB team. Make two parties happy, get a nice facility, but then you would have to sell tickets to both. Shreveport has no shot. They would be considered after San Antonio, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Boise, Portland, Sacramento, Austin, Albuquerque, Memphis, Nashville...well you get the idea. Just not a big enough market for Shreveport to be considered. Personally, I think Portland could be the next city to be considered for a team.

This is the worst thread I have ever seen on any board on TD.com. There is zero corporate presence in NW LA, NE TX and SW AK. No chance at this EVER coming to fruition. The entire premise is laughable. Your friend is a MORON.
