They will be but I think they will try to avoid the long term deals and pay more per year for shorter length deals. Let's see what that nets.

Yeah, but remember who runs the team here...
C'mon Tom, time to stop being a cheap bastard. That Heyward contract is finally off the books and dude, what you're charging at Wrigley for a hat with a different logo. C'mon man, you got the damn money.

Do the Angles trade Ohtani?
Yes.
The only question is do they trade him in the off-season to try to maximize value or do they wait and see and end up trading him mid-season.

Will the Astros retain JV and Yuli?
I sure hope so.

I think this was probably it for Yuli. JV and Crane are tight so I expect them to make a competitive offer.

JV is going to retire an Astro with 2 or 3 more rings.
Yuli is going to remain an Astro as bench coach.

I expect JV back, Uncle Mike too.
I’d like to see Yuli hang it up on a high note

I've said many of bad things about Matt Holliday when he was a player but good move by the Cards.
Certainly looking forward to what the NL Comedy Central brings us for the new season.

Cubs catcher Willson Contreras was one of the biggest trade candidates not to be moved at the summer trade deadline, but according to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Astros came close to completing a deal for the All-Star. Astros starter Jose Urquidy would’ve gone to Chicago in a straight one-for-one swap, which was agreed upon pending ownership approval. The Astros never got the green light from ownership, the deal collapsed, and the players remained with their respective teams.

the Ricketts spent before 2020 - a lot - and they will spend again. I have my issues with them but the narrative that they won't spend has been overplayed. Yeah they used the pandemic as an excuse to cover their losses for overspending on their Wrigleyville buyouts with minimal revenue coming in. That's over now and I have no doubt it won't be the spending that will be the issue....unless it's stupid spending - like the Rangers.

I think most Cub fans and Wilson himself overestimated his value and the market has seemed to confirm that.
While his hitting is above average for a catcher, his defensive skills were never that great and slipped badly this year - the narrative being contending teams did not trust him to handle their staffs in the post-season.
I don't think the Cubs did either as he hit DH as much if not more than he played catcher....and while his numbers for a catcher are good - his numbers in comparison to other DH's were mediocre.
