Make your title more specific. Most people will just think it is about steroids.

According to the story, details of which were reportedly provided by another player at the games, Rodriguez "tried to distance himself from the game," once the violence broke out.
"He just shook his head, not knowing what the hell happened," the whistle-blower revealed. "He didn't want to deal with it at all. He was like, 'OK, whatever. It's your game.' I would estimate A-Rod lost, like, a few thousand dollars that night. After everything that happened, he paid up and left."
So what's the big deal then?

MLB has a strict no gambling policy, no?
Posted on 8/3/11 at 1:39 pm to OBUDan
No gambling in general, or no gambling on baseball?

is that just ball games or gambling all together?
it would suck if they cant even go to a casino

This is fricking dumb.
Well then stay out of peoples private lives.

"Bud's totally fed up with him," said a baseball insider. "It's like there's something new with him every day and it's impossible to keep up with it."

Can a player buy a ticket from a state run lottery?

Bud would have hated Michael Jordan, then.

That's what I'm unsure about.
I know they have pretty tight gambling rules, but it may just be related to sports betting.

Who the frick cares if Michael Vick was involved in illegal dog fighting?

Why don't you guys read the article instead of bitching and saying things like, "Who gives a frick if A-Rod played poker in his free time."
quote:
In 2005, Rodriguez had been warned about gambling in underground poker clubs by the Yankees and by baseball commissioner Bud Selig, both of whom were concerned that possible involvement with gamblers who might be betting on baseball games could result in a Pete Rose-type lifetime ban from baseball.

didn't realize Roger Goddell was running major league baseball

The media are the media regardless of which sport an athlete's in, so if an athlete brings the image of the sport down by engaging in illegal gambling (whether with cards or with dogs), it's the league's business to reprimand him.

If he was told by his employer to cut this activity out, which I'm pretty sure they can do under some sort of morals clause, and he didn't... well, he's a moron.
