Theo is an evil genius and I wish my redsox still had him. We're obviously in good shape and I trust the organization when it comes to player development and scouting, it's when they get to the bigs that I get a little nervous

The Red Sox have some premier young guys, it was the FA just cratering and a putrid bullpen last year that did them in.
What team would not want Mookie Betts, Xander, Swihart, and Rodriguez?

As a fan, a good farm system can lessen the blow of a crappy major league team because there is something to look forward to. Which is why I find the Angels situation hilarious. A crappy, massively overpaid team, the worst farm system by far in the majors, and they are literally wasting the prime years of a generational talent. I love it.

Yep, it's still hard to imagine he's only 24.
And unless the Angels just turn into the late 2000's Yankees spending wise, I see no way that they can improve the farm system or major league team in a short amount of time without trading Trout. And That would be a deal very few teams could make.

They need Weaver/Wilson to have a good first halves so they can spin them at the deadline this year... Maybe start moving a few players even if it means getting depth back.

If Weaver can't hit 85 with his fastball, no team will want him. Too many concerns with his shoulder/elbow. Same with Wilson.
The Angels could ask for pretty much any package they want for Trout....and it still could be considered as an underpayment.

If they both show they can be effective middle of rotation guys a team will show interest. They would not receive a haul but they could get some low level guys who could become something.

But Maddux didn't lose almost 5 mph off his average in one season. Which is a huge concern. Can he still be effective? Yes. Is this graph a major red flag for other teams? I'd say probably.
Posted on 2/24/16 at 9:52 am to DrVinnyBoombatz
Possibly but Mark Buerhle remained effective it depends on Weaver and if he can transform himself into a different type of pitcher. If he can stay healthy and have an ERA around 3.50 at the break I think the Angels could move him.

I'm not saying there's no way he gets moved, because teams get desperate for pitching depth. But he's owed $20million next season and has concerns.
It's going to be someone absolutely desperate and even then there are probably better and more affordable pitching depth out there.

Plus Wilson doesn't do squat in the postseason.

Any time something bad happens to a Cali team I love it. That state is so full of arrogant prima donna fans that show up late after getting boob jobs and leave early for botox sessions.

And now Hamilton will be on the DL until mid-May. So they can pay for his non-production like they did the first month of last year.
Steinbrenner was a wild spender but at least he won something with his spending.
