The online reviews for these irons are pretty good - was looking at the AP2 - but going to hit some of the 850s and see what the deal is.

Any positive or negative experiences with these irons?

Thanks

Have you hit the ap2's or any mizunos? What are you playing currently? The 850 pros are going to be more similar to the ap2's. But the regular 850's are going to be easier to hit and more forgiving, more similar to the ap1's.

I like the JPX 850's. Good price and slightly larger profile and more offset than the AP2. I find that AP2 players are mostly titleist loyal. I think there's plenty of better forged options out there.

Hit some AP2s - and was about to pull the trigger - went to demo day and for fitted up with trackman.

I have been researching the forged 850s (if there is a difference).

Go to a demo day and get fit. Getting the right shaft will help bunches. Then try the different club heads. The cast 850's are long and easy to hit. They're larger and have a thicker top line. The forged 850's have boron and a thick top line. I didn't like the sound or feel of that one. I ended up with MP54's. It's probably closest to the AP2. The thing with Mizuno is that you can choose your shafts with no up-charge. Demo day usually gets you 10% off.

The AP2s were a little "clicky" for a forged iron when I hit them. That is what got me doing additional research.

I did like the setup with the titleist irons - the shaft was a project x and it was heavy - which I like very much.
