Have to be the three best all purpose backs ever, right? Or at least in the modern era.

So, question is, which one you taking?

Faulk was a beast. But they all are. I’d go with Faulk.

Walter Payton was much better out of the backfield catching the ball then most remember, at the least I think he belongs in the conversation.

Of the three in the OP, I’d probably go Faulk. But I could understand someone opting for LT.

I think Payton lead the bears in receptions like 5 or 6 seasons and was 2nd in another 5 or 6

Faulk was just sick in his prime. LT was legendary too, but had a diff running style. McCaffrey is great, but nowhere near the level of the other two, yet

Faulk is the only one to amass 12k and 6k in MFL history.

Faulk
LT
McCaffrey - durability questions still abound but he has time to move up

Tomlinson. I think Alvin Kamara has been more dynamic out of the backfield receiving for his career than the other two as well. Barry Sanders is in the convo and Walter Payton too.

I was looking up his stats and came across this… Payton has the second most yards ever for a “back.” Number one you ask? Brian Mitchell. But granted like 80% of his “yards gained” are from returns. Just thought it was funny to see.

You can argue McCaffrey isn’t the best all purpose back if his draft class.

AK41 has more touchdowns, pro bowls, and virtually identical yards.

LT has rushed 1400 + yards 5 times.
Faulk, zero times.

All-purpose? frickin' Faulk

He basically took what Payton did at that position to another versatile level. Payton still the better, regular back of course.
