As an lsu fan with only a cursory interest in the pac12, lee is the most talented player in the country.

Eta: I was saying last year he was the best frosh, and I was one of the most vocal this offseason when he was left off the biletnikoFf list.

He is a GREAT player. Top 5-7 for sure. Not number one. Or at least, you can't say he's number one definitively. He has a great QB throwing to him, another great receiver to take some pressure off him, and plays in the Pac where defense is optional. I mean, how good is Arizona? Better than Rutgers? Cobi Hamilton from Arkansas had over 300 yards against Rutgers.

If you can't tell that lee is better than cobi hamilton its because you're trying not to.

Actually, I never said Hamilton was better. I gave his stats from that game as an example as how players can have huge games against teams that aren't great and yet you have guys like the OP claiming they're the best player in the country. It's an overreaction on his part.

But for the players I do think are better than Lee:
Clowney
Barrett Jones
Collin Klein
Teo

That's about it. So IMO he's right at 5th. But I would put guys like Sammy Watkins and Jarvis Jones right in the same category.

No Klein is the 2nd best player in the country and most likely going to win the heisman but he's not better than Lee, not by a long shot.

Best player in college football just failed to get a 1st down by not running forward. And since when did Barkley suck? Is that how we're propping up players now?

"Oh, his QB who was a preseason Heisman contender and is almost certainly a first round draft pick is TERRIBLE."

I don't buy that for an instant. Lee is real good, but let's slow our roll just a tad.

I havent been able to watch much of Marqise Lee outside of highlights. Does his skills looks like it would transition to the NFL?

Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith was ridiculous at USC too.

I haven't seen much of him either, but this thread inspired me to click over to the USC-Zona game. He missed a wide open lane on two separate plays, so he's not an unstoppable runner. Then again, if your first knock on a receiver is his rushing abilities, it says how good of a receiver he is. I just think people should dial back the hyberbole a touch.

But I also believer receivers are almost always inherently overrated.
