Loria's team is suing a fan named Kenneth Sack in Broward County to take a $725,000 building he owns in Oakland Park — all as part of the same ugly dispute that has led the team to sue at least nine season ticketholders and luxury-suite owners since 2003.

Jeffrey Loria is proof that evil can win.

The Marlins' rash of lawsuits against their own fans stems from season ticket packages sold in 2012 for the first year of the team's new Little Havana stadium (whose building was a ridiculously terrible deal that will cost taxpayers $2 billion and led to the county mayor being recalled). The team asked fans to sign contracts for three or four years' worth of season tickets, sweetened with promises like pre- and postgame buffets and private parking.
But many longtime fans say that when the team tanked on the field and attendance sagged during that inaugural season in Marlins Park, the Fish reneged on those promises. The parking spaces and private entrances disappeared, and the buffet was stocked with crappy panini night after night, they say.
you can't make this shite up
at least the owner in Major League had nice luxury suites

Would be incredible if somehow, someway, the current deal to sell falls through and a group from Montreal comes in and buys the Marlins. Dude would be responsible for getting baseball out and back into Montreal

As bad as Loria is, he's still less of a scumbag than all 32 NFL owners and Roger Goodell.

He would also be responsible for a 2 billion dollar taxpayer stadium that doesn't have a team at that point

I'm really shocked MLB keeps allowing him to own teams

I think they're quietly pushing the current sale behind the scenes honestly. No reason to believe that, but the Marlins have been a gold mine for him and he doesn't seem like the type to just sell like he is. I figured he would hold on them with his cold dead hands

Donald Sterling is dying laughing somewhere because he's no longer the worst owner in sports.

In fairness, only about 50 people attend the games so are private parking lots and entrances really necessary?

I can see him selling for record profits and then trying to buy another team later on, just like with the Expos.
Paid 62 million for Expos, sold for 120 million
Paid 158.5 million (with a 38.5 million loan from MLB) for the Marlins and will sell for more than 1 billion?

Sounds right. The MLB welfare is a problem. Owners get paid for sucking, and there is no incentive to win. I would rather these teams be in smaller markets that want to win vs seeing Oakland roll the same product out every year.
