I think only very good teams could do it. I think a top 10 team in 2A for example would lose but keep it close. Riverside might be able to win.

Interesting you chose that team. I am an STA grad and saw Riverside win the state title a few weeks ago against my alma mater. I agree with you for the most part. I definitely think it would be competitive. But I think most of the teams who make it to the Top 28 would beat most WNBA teams. I just think about how any given team has 3-5 kids who can dunk.. As a poster mentioned earlier, it's all about the athleticism

Didn't Nancy Lieberman have an NBA tryout at one time?

it's not like he said "in lousiana." with your qualifier, you've only narrowed down the field to like 50-100 high school teams that could do it.

I'm of the opinion that many high school boys teams could win the WNBA title.
I agree with this. Mary Carillo once said that there are hundreds of high school boys tennis players who could have beaten Serena Williams when she was in peak form.

Delle Donne might be a decent college back-up though in a mid major.
Diana Taurasi once said she often played pick-up with the Connecticut men when she was in college, but that she wouldn't have been good enough to even earn the last roster spot on the men's team just to sit on the bench.

This doesn't sound right. There aren't hundreds of high school boys who have ever hit a 129 mph serve.
I bet the gender discrepancy is least apparent in non-contact sports like tennis.
I think people go a little bit overboard in assuming how bad female athletes are compared to male high schoolers. For example, the gold medalist in the women's 100 meters would win most track meets in states other than CA, TX, or FL.

I'd love to see a link to any of this.
I don't disagree though with Taurasi. She is 6', maybe 160 or so. The only person who is going to be that size is a speedy point guard. She can't keep up with even a relatively slow guard like Greg Paulus, who is of similar size. She'll be competing with walk-ons for the 13th or 14th spot, and that's all she could be good for (ETA: at a top school like UConn).
Similarly, Griner is very weak compared to even Ivy League or Patriot league centers. She could probably be a good shot blocker but nothing else against sub-par D-1 level men.
The reason why I think Delle Donne would fare better than Taurasi or Griner or Sue Bird is that she has a guard's game despite being 6'5". She is a great shooter, has a solid handle, etc. She could never hack it as a starter in D-1, but I'd be curious to see how she compares to a bum like Ben Voogd or someone who is the third guy off the bench at UC-Santa Barbara.

Playing tennis is more than serving. Do you think Serena is as quick and fast as high school boys. I believe it was Chris Everett who said that her brother never pro tennis and she never beat him.

I had a friend in high school who won a lot of the major state tournaments in LA and played college tennis for a mediocre program. He couldn't serve past 100 mph. Now I know guys like Agassi and Chang couldn't serve much beyond that either, but they had unbelievable return games to compensate for that.
I'd imagine it would be really tough for the average "very good" player to make up for a 30 mph gap in the serve.
But just to be clear, Serena (when healthy and motivated) is the only female I would feel this confident in. She's so much better than even her best rival when she's on, like in the Olympics.

Mark Cuban should be fined for this statement.
he's adding unnecessary fuel to the fire of a debate surrounding one of the WNBA's biggest future stars
i'm of the point of view that everyone knows she'd be useless against men, so this is at best a publicity stunt and at worst an unwarranted potshot

He's probably just trying to complement her, even though he is obviously not really sincere.
But what debate is there for her in the WNBA? She'll be a very good player for the next decade while playing against women, as long as she doesn't have any Caster Semenya shite go down. But nothing in his statement is really suggesting that.

she's not gonna be taken in round 2 of the NBA draft
this is Cuban's roundabout way of calling her a man, and the NBA and WNBA don't need that when they've got a league to promote around her

At least they wouldn't have to change the locker room, I bet she has a bigger dick than some of the players on the team

Right, her max was 120 at Wimbledon, 107 (1), 85(2).
But that drop off occurs with all players. Federer was 130, 116, 98. Murray was even more erratic going 135, 115, 85.
In other words, a high schooler who serves 100 isn't averaging 100.

I really didn't view it that way. Did anyone else think of it like that? I just thought it was bluster from a guy who takes pride in being a loudmouth.

it would be different if A. she could be a legitimate NBA draft prospect and B. there wasn't the ongoing debate about her gender
