Safeco Field might rank up there against a beer nerd's favorite brewpub in terms of diversity. And when we say the New York Yankees ranked 30th in The Post's study, that means Yankee Stadium has the most generic beer offerings in baseball.

About 70 percent of Safeco Field’s 700 beer handles are devoted to “good, quality craft beer,” according to Steve Dominguez, the general manager of Centerplate's operations at Safeco Field. Sales of craft-style products crush those of domestic-style mass market beers, by a ratio of about 4-1.

The stadium bought three cask engines this year to allow for cask-conditioned ales throughout the stadium, and they offer a hearty list of 22-ounce craft bombers from breweries like Pyramid, Oskar Blues, No-Li and Rogue. Next year, the stadium plans to introduce recommended beer-and-food pairings throughout its concession stands.

The yankees sold out to the big beer corporations. Color me shocked.

Just came back from Seattle and watched the Mariners play the White Sox Saturday. Stadium is incredible and the food and beer options was off the charts. It was $7.50 for a domestic and $8.75 for a craft beer. Really good atmosphere and cool to be there for Lou Pinella day.

Not scientific but I have a feeling Seattle and S.F. have the best and most diverse beer/food options in baseball.

Predominate beer drunk in Oregon and Washington.

IMO - best beer ever made. Especially the X-tra hoppy ones.

Especially the Stone Brewing Company (maker of Arrogant Bastard Ale), Lagunitis and my personal favorite...

Meh. It's a baseball game I'm not there to drink fancy beer. Just give me a few bud lights throughout the game and I'll be happy.

i go to a lot of games at safeco and it's almost hard to find a coors light or bud there. usually end up getting a can from one of the walk around vendors and even they will only have one or two. all of the overrated craft beers are very easily accessible for you try hards and everything is about the same price.

Around here it isn't fancy. Maybe 20 years ago. It's the norm around these parts. It isn't a new and upcoming scene like it is in some parts of the country.

Most IPA's do. Like Stone Ruination IPA 8.2% or Skagit River Brewery IPA 7.2% (which you can get at Safeco)

Just not true. Yankee stadium had a selection of craft beers but they weren't spread out across stadium. There would be like a central local station you had to go to. Visited in April.

This thread is illuminating and like the article...just like LSUinNW pointed out...

the term "craft brew" just isn't used in the North West and California...and maybe other parts in the Upper Midwest.

Craft brew is so 1990's to us.

The beer revolution happened a long time ago in the Northwest...

Oregon is the world's producer of hops.

Cali, Oregon and Washington...started the small brewery revolution in the mid-80's - mid 90's.

And as the previous poster pointed out - not drinking the majors...Bud, Coors, etc...has been the norm for 20 years.

The Northwest is like Europe...every town has their own local brewery...from homebrew revolution to craft brew to successful brew...

The beer revolution in the NW gave America actual choices and new avenues.

It's not fancy...it's normal (going back to the founding fathers - people brewing for their town) and it's been the norm in the NW.

People in the NW and Cali - love IPA's and high abv Stouts...and Belgian beers, etc.

Tastes evolved...no one wants that watered down...mass produced shite anymore. Beer used to be so much better in America 100 years ago...and that's what the beer revolution re-created.

In fact, America leads the world now...thanks to small business and forward-thinking people - we eclipse Germany...

In hop production, beer companies, beer production, beer awards in competitions.

America is the leader in Beer in the world.

Thanks to the Northwest...and the craft revolution in the early 90's.

Before that...the rest of the world thought our beer sucked arse. Coors and Bud.

We were lazy. The beer revolution is one of the greatest movements and small business successes America has ever had.

Oregon dominates Germany in competition. Washington dominates Belgium.

We are the most unique and creative and forward-thinking nation on the planet now with regard to beer...thanks to San Fransisco, Oregon and Washington.

That's a fact. The world - before NAPA Valley - thought US wine was for shite.

The world before San Francisco, Oregon and Washington - thought US beer was for shite.

Now we are the leaders in both. Ingenuity, creativity, boldness, new flavors, high alc content...

America is the world's leader in beer...

And it ain't craft...Budweiser wants you to label it as craft.

This shite is mainstream...all over the westcoast and northwest.
