Part of the attraction/hate for bird, Magic, Jordan, Isiah during this period is Hope openly they hated each other and how it really was a war every night. They were also incredibly arrogant and cocky but in a much more low key subtle way then you see guys today. Bird telling Byron Scott the play and then executing it is amazing

Magic is probably one of the the most intelligent players of all time, im not knocking him for his ability to go coast-to-coast
BUT his lack of elite speed (at least it doesnt look that way on youtube) leaves me to question whether or not he is the absolute "best"

Magic was the king of pacing. Much like Nash. You get a guy thinking you're moving at 100%, but you're really going 80%. Then bam, you accelerate and have a step on the guy. No one passed better on the move then he did, esp from the half court area

It always fascinates me how some think it is so important to emphasize Magic must have been gay. It's like they're afraid to admit he could have gotten HIV from some skank in the Forum locker room.

Half of the people on here are judging him by the 30 for 30 and never saw him play. Well I did. He was the greatest PG of my generation. Oh, and he could play 4 other positions.

Incincere a-hole? Maybe. Magic Johnson is not over rated though. He had 5 nba titles at 32 years old when he had to retire. Who knows if he plays his entire career out.
