The only thing more pathetic are the people that actually choose to donate the $0.50. Peoples' view of modern sports is pretty disturbing.

I don't understand the reasoning for this. Gas costs a lot of money for something you get little enjoyment for, just a necessary evil. I don't want to spend anymore money after buying gas.

Maybe if it was a retail store or for groceries. How does a school even get to solicit donations at these places?

A portion on the $0.50 goes to the station owner. Those guys get desperate for every penny they can get their hands around.

People changed Marx' quote for modern times: sports is the opiate of the masses. However if people contained their irrational thinking and behavior only to sports, that's cool with me. Don't think that's the case.

I disagree, for what it provides gas is fairly cheap.

I'm pretty confident that the sports organizations themselves coined the term "bandwagon fan" in order to prevent decreased viewing and purchasing during times of decreased performance. These organizations have distorted individuals' perception of sports to the point of unimaginable fleecing.

I'm definitely not as into (watching) sports as I used to be. Especially college. It's all become kind of a farce IMO.

I kinda cringe when people call other people bandwagon fans. If the quality of steaks at Ruth Chris went to shite, we would all quit eating there, but I'm still expected to donate money to a school and buy their apparel when they put a shite product on the field?

Well I'm not talking about that. I hate bandwagon fans.
