I have a bigger problem with the adults taking away an opportunity for the kids to play than 6 teenagers flipping off a camera before a game. Reeks of a mom crying because her baby didn't win. So she will go find anything she can to get her kid to advance.

And that's why Little League got it right - it's this type of thinking that pervades society - the all mighty sport above all else. Win or nothing.

Little League is well known that a major part of their sport is sportsmanship - it's ingrained as part of the experience.

If the girls are truly hurt by this then they learned a valuable lesson - but in reality, they probably forgot about it a day later - doing other things - going out for pizza. It's only the parents who are probably still gnashing their teeth and crying about it.

Don't you think both teams should've been DQ'd if one was considering the actions of the other team during the game?

If the umps didn't see anything to warrant action during live play, what can you do?

Look, this is a public face incident...no one would recognize any malfeasance apart from parents during a game because nobody is watching. So any bad feelings during the game is irrelevant.

But...

Once these girls put this out on social media, they dug their own graves. Little League is a very conservative, girl scout-like organization that has mottos they must defend to the public. There is no way they couldn't DQ these girls and save face with the public and their mission statement. I mean, you don't go to church and give the Crucifix the middle finger and expect congratulations by the congregation.

They could simply suspend the 6 girls who flipped off the camera instead of the whole team.

Sorry but their decision is awful and would be like a school w/a zero tolerance policy kicking a kid and their siblings out b/c the one didn't give the nurse their inhaler.

You can think something is stupid and disagree w/it w/o being outraged.

Thanks for taking that one little semantics nugget out of my post that had another point to it entirely.

The shite world we now live in includes kids being disrespectful. I have no problem with consequences. My dad would have beat my arse if I did that at that age.

Are you dumb enough to compare allegations of sign stealing to something that's proven because it was posted on social media? There's a big difference in a girl stealing a sign and girls flipping off a camera.

If you can't understand that, then nobody here can help you.

These type of actions are explicitly prohibited in the LL culture.

To the parents complaining, take your kids to travel ball. If you don't like the sportsmanship aspect of LL, don't play in it. If I'm a parent of one of the innocent kids, I'm not pissed at LL, I'm pissed at the kids who couldn't act appropriately.

Those six kids have no business being rewarded with a trip to the World Series, where they are given new uniforms, shirts, equipment, bags...where they stay in a dorm with kids from across the globe...where they eat pizza and form friendships you can't form anywhere else...where you play on national tv...and where you have a great excuse for showing up to school a couple weeks late.

They don't deserve any of that.

Then they couldn't have fielded a team anyway
