Here's to what I hope are two well played, and well fought games. I'll be cheering for The Tigers and Episcopal from Baton Rouge. Good luck to Winnfield, but I'm pulling for the Knights to give 'em hell. This is the strongest team I've ever seen my alma mater have. If you can, start a thread and update the score every once in a while.

I'll try to do that Grizzle. Hoping for a clean, hard-fought game.

Wait, did Barbe request their Baton Rouge Refs again this year? Is WM going to be called for 29 penalties again this year?

Choup, Kinder is rolling the Black Train back to new Orleans. Hope we can give the #1 team in the land a run for their money.

How does this years Winnfield bunch compare to the studs they had back in the late 70s and early 80s? That was some great teams that they had.

This. Not gonna happen, but it would be a great game. I'm an Episcopal grad and it's awesome to see how far Coach Bourgeois has taken Episcopal since he took over (the year after I graduated). U-High has always been a district rivalry for us, mainly because we all know each other, but a rivalry none the less.

Agreed, Grizzle.

I'm an Episcopal alum from a few years before you and have been proud of how Boo took over a program that was in the toilet, with multiple 0-10 seasons, and turned it into one with the school's first semi appearance in 2002 and back-to-back 9-1 campaigns the past two years.

well once you make it to this round anything can happen...

remember, mandeville has a qb yo... they're going to win and go to west monroe

i think rummel and byrd will be a war, which if byrd was a state champion caliber team, they should blow rummel out in its current state

carencro puts up the points on some teams and get held down by others... i think they get past jesuit

mandeville is the best hope for a NOLA area state champion now

wm always seems to get the bad officials in the playoffs. hope they win or loose the game fair and square. they had pretty bad officials last week.

I think I might have more respect for them than most on this board, but they definitely wont win state.

Im going to stop speaking on Rummel because im shocked by their success. I thought Acadiana would blow them out.

I actually think Jesuit might win easily. I dont think Carencro has a chance of slowing down Jesuit's offense and I believe Jesuit can contain Carencro's offense to around 21 points. I picked Byrd to come out of this side of the bracket, but I think Jesuit might be the best team in 5a.

All have good chances, the only North Louisiana teams I picked to win state were Evangel and OCS.
I originally picked Byrd and Breaux Bridge in 5a and 4a.

Also any Amite fans on here? How does the offense look this season? I heard the defense was pretty stout.

Amite's been playing pretty stout defense this year. Fairly balanced offense that can be explosive at times, but tends to try to win the game in the second half. Not surprised to see them make it this far.
