many in NOLA think HC got cheated.
Haven't heard this...what I have heard is that people were not happy with having officals from Monroe, maybe should have had refs from LC or Laffy.
HC got outplayed and made some mistakes to lose the game, but there were a few "bad" calls: one was a catch at the goalline where it appeared from several people that the HC receiver broke the plain of goalline and it was ruled down at the one, then a bogus false start penalty and HC went on to kick a FG. (Ed Daniels and JC Curtis agreed FWIW)
Also, on the first play from scrimmage after previous poster's non-touchback interception, where Byrd took over at the two yard line...Byrd runs a QB keeper and looks to gain about two yards, refs throw flag for holding on Byrd, and the ref tells HC coaches that he gained 2, so coaches decline penalty to setup second and eight. Then the ball is spotted as if QB gained five yards, and they would not let HC change and accept penalty, and Byrd plays second and five. BS call!
But HC didn't execute and lost, not because of the refs...and yes, Rummel took it to them in the worst way.

University has the athletes to compete with Curtis THIS year, the question is do they have the discipline and depth?
Discipline, yes. Depth has been the question since the beginning of the season. Our team my older son's senior season two years ago had better depth because of that big senior class, and this year's seniors, many that were playing as sophomores. This year's starters are pretty darn salty, but haven't had to play 4 quarters all year, outside the first PBS game. The extra rest will help-that PBS game was pretty hard-hitting.
For all those talking about JT having time to prepare, don't underestimate how good our coaching staff is, just because they are a lot younger.

38-17 Curtis
I'd be shocked if they held us to only 17.

Not sure what you're getting at. Every Catholic League school voted against the split.
yeah but it was the behind the scenes and not behind scenes lobbying to get JC and ECA out their hair after split...

University is going to always have to expect the bomb to Dupree, because as soon as they start thinking run run run, Curtis will go up top to Dupree and if you're 1 on 1 you can hang it up. It seems like #34 has finally started to be able to pass the ball too which makes it tough to stop.

Cliff notes on this select/non-select business?
Used to be 5 classifications in football in Louisiana: 1A-5A.
Public schools mad at privates.
They vote to split playoffs into "non-select" a/k/a public and "select" a/k/a private or magnet schools.
Now there are 9 championship games: 1A-5A for non-select; Division I-IV for select.

For those of you who have seen Rummel and/or Byrd play, what do you think of this matchup?

Imagine how many more title games they are going to want to make if Byrd wins the game that was meant for the Catholic League State Championship.
I see you post this every week in the playoff threads. What's your problem with the catholic league? Just curious

Byrd was almost screwed out of a trip to the Dome by that horrible non-touchback call. The refs most definitely favored HC. North LA teams have always had to beat the South LA team and the refs.
I think Byrd should beat Rummel if they play like they have all year.

probably the Catholic league superiority complex and how they manipulated to get curtis and eca back in their enrollment class and then back away from them after the split...

Don't you know, they wanted Curtis back in their enrollment class when they never had the balls to ever play in 5A to begin with.
And evangel would be a nobody in 5a
