...and appreciate just how unifying and healing sports can truly be.

quote:

U-High winning the match 3-0 is a small part of the story. The nondistrict contest Athletic Director Jill White called “a celebration of life” for Ross was that and more.

I think a copy of this needs to be sent to every professional athlete so they can get a little perspective.

Send that to Trump. Maybe one day he'll try and unify the country.

I’m sure the working class of Ohio loved a guy who barely graduated high school calling them uneducated, because of their political leanings.

Okay one guy but 99% of those kneeling/speaking out against Trump are not talking down to anybody.

how is it ridiculous? Calling someone stupid because you don't agree with them is what's ridiculous.

Yeah they are. The whole thing is a lecture on just how bad/racist America supposedly is currently.

And if someone has a different opinion from that, they're a racist, of course. shite's played.

I tend to believe that the kneeling last Sunday was in response to Trump calling out the players. Whether or not you think that is lecturing middle America is up for dicussion.

No doubt. I'm just saying the response was done by joining the ongoing protest method, which has taken on that tone, IMO.

I have edited the title to reflect my intent.

While I disagree with their opinions, and the alleged "bases" for them, I am not making a judgment call on their opinion. I am making a judgment call as to how they have expressed it.

Maybe the thread will get back on track now.

I'd have phrased it "Let's take a step back from the rancor arising from mixing politics with sport"

Putting it how you did invites a thread derail

ETA: But wtf do I know. I argue with anonymous strangers on a regular basis and enjoy it for some reason

That's what some think when someone has a different opinion than them.
