I don't put much stock in record against how teams did against common opponents. In 2008, Florida beat LSU by 30 points and Kentucky by 58 points while Bama only beat Kentucky by 3 points and it took overtime for them to win against LSU. A lot of people thought Bama was going to get crushed and it turned out to be a very close game until the end when Florida was finally able to put it on ice.

Stanford 27
USC 10

Washington 44
Stanford 6

The transitive property does not work in college football.

Jim Leyland, baseball manager, had an apt saying: "It's not about who you play, it's about when you play them." Definitely applies here.

They should cancel the playoffs and give Bama the trophy already.

Washington lost 26-13. But the transitive property says that Washington should have annihilated USC. Thus proving my point that the transitive property is useless.
