He's helping kids, right?

The guy who bitches about someone doing a nice thing because he didn't donate his money to another nice thing...

Is there any chance that dude is happy in life?

Honest question. I just don't see how he can be.

So? What is the cause, and how should that be treated? In addition, a lot of the problems have at least a partial biological basis, and that can't be magically changed.

No, but that goes for just about anything. But there are things that are far more effective than others, so one can more effectively throw money into those.

Thanks for the permission.

I put the odds at around 100% that he doesn't do shite to help remedy the cause or treat the symptoms.

But he throws negativity at Lebron.

Will the school even be big enough for the kids to fit inside?

Actually it appear to be a public school, in partnership with Akron Public School system.

The Promise School

Not to get all semantical, but if its a public school, then Lebron James didn't open it. Public schools are arms of the state; Lebron James can give money to help support it, but he can't open it. He isn't the state.*

Also, the subtopic in this thread about Lebron's holyness or notholyness and how that should or shouldn't affect his likability or unlikability is silly. You can root for guys who aren't great dudes. You can dislike guys who are.

i.e., I don't like Roger Federer. This doesn't mean I think he killed Bambi, uses the N word when no one is around, or entertains thoughts that HB2 isn't necessarily the most evil legislation in the history of legislation. I just don't like him.

i.e. part 2, I do think Lebron James is a good human being, and I also like him and root for him. But the latter is not necessarily as a result of the former, nor does it need to be.

Well technically the public school is ran by the city of Akron, and with that partnership they are "creating" a new school. Obviously he can't create one without Akron's assistance, but they also wouldn't be creating this school without LeBron.

Obviously it will fall under the purview of Akron Public Schools, but because of that partnership, Lebron is technically opening a new school with them.

It's amazing how many people dislike lebron despite how well he does in life. Father, husband, good teammate, seemingly loyal friend, generous and pretty sharp. All on top of being one of the most dominant sports figures in any of our lifetimes. He's been in the public eye since he was 15, and the worst thing he's done is the decision tv special.

THIS
THIS

And LeBron didn't exactly grow up in the best circumstances. His father has never surfaced and his mother was 16 when she gave birth to him. The fact that he overcame all this to be at the top of his profession, done so well in business and have a squeaky clean public image is something.
I took Psych 1001 - you grow up without a father, it might make you someone who really seeks approval from others. Hence some of the "try-hard" stuff with LeBron on social media and public statements.

He's donating money that will allow for a new school to be opened. If it's a public school, he's not opening it.

I mean it's still an Akron Public School, and under their umbrella, but the school is going to use LeBron's educational curriculum and programing. And they are using community members to form a committee to design the system.

It's not technically "his" school, but he appears to have a lot of power.
