How does this frickstick keep getting these jobs?

That's like asking, why does a Harvard Grad get an internship and then job on Wall Street?

Dude has a great resume. Protege of his dad, mentored by Pete Carroll at USC as OC with one of the most prolific offenses of all time.

He only had 1 year w/ Raiders (Davis - enough said)
1-year at UT - recruited the shite out of that place given the crap circumstances and didn't exactly bomb.

This (USC) is his first real job to properly evaluate him apart from his resume/background.

He wasn't even remotely qualified to get the Raiders job. The Tennessee job, why not. The USC job, maybe.

5-15 record. Enough said.

True. He did deliver their best season in the last 5 years... 7-6!

But it's Lane Kiffin so it's a big deal

I honestly don't think the coach or team is the story here.

You think a manager took it upon himself to deflate balls because he thought it might help?

C'mon, man!!!!

The only reason the coach or team is being discussed is Kiffin's baggage. He really will never gain anyone's respect worth having. Perfect man for the job, IMO.

Mostly because I enjoy watching them suffer.

Very debatable. I wasn't really paying much attention at the time, but how exactly did he get the Raiders job? Bizarre.

No, he doesn't.

So was Gary Crowton

Plus he was terrible, left that out.

He went 7-6 after being left a defense coached by Chavis who also returned NFL's Eric Berry and Dan Williams along with a solid crew of LB's. He cheated in recruiting and tried to get the guys to transfer with him.

He does not have a great resume. He obliterated the Tenn program in just one year. He laid waste to them.

No coach was gonna bring that program back in 2-3 yrs w/o cheating their arse off. Dooley, or any coach, was not gonna chance further sanctions because of the light Kiffen put on that program.

Great resume my arse.

He had 1 year at UT (not really a time to judge) and he didn't lay waste...that ship was freakin' sinking with Fulmer after Lane got there.

Some of you people make shite up out of contempt and because he left.

He made UT at least competitive that year (Bama) -

Regardless...this is his FIRST JOB you can properly evaluate him...which TO ANSWER THE QUESTION...

is why he got the UT job and USC job. Raiders job couldn't evaluate with Davis and UT was a one-year poof and gone...just getting to know you.

This so dumb. If it's just USC or any big time program nobody cares.

If he coached at an SEC school you'd be going apeshit.

It's not debatable. He's worked at great places and done a shitty job at two and going on three.

Lane was 5-15 in Oakland and 7-6 at UT as a head coach before USC hired him. I wouldn't call 12-21 a great resume.

You are making shite up. Tenn was prominent when he got there though having a rough couple of years. That happens to solid programs sometimes, but they quickly recover. Kiffen blew that place up!

He left them after one AVG year getting them placed under sanctions.

Yeah, nice resume and a nice way to leave a solid program already struggling. He carpet bombed the program.

Lane and Derek Dooley should write a book on how to fall up based on your father's name.

Oh please, that's the most over-blown assertion and storyline best kept on the SEC rant.

The point was, he kept getting jobs because he didn't stay at one place long enough (except his stint at USC as OC) where people could get an accurate evaluation of him as being a bad HC.

His team at USC now is the only rational judgment and even then it's tinged with sanctions.

1-year stops at crazy Al's (and I'm a Raiders fan) and 1-year in Knoxville which where fans rioted because he was leaving) isn't exactly something that tells you failure assured.

Now he has a track record, and if Haden fires him...(if USC continues to lose this season) he won't be the getting those golden boy gigs.
