La Tech vs Navy- Armed Forces Bowl

Kickoff set for 3:30 on ESPN
I think this is a highly underrated bowl game. LA Tech's offense has been a treat to watch this year. Also this is one of the better Navy teams in recent memory, sadly they lost to Army.
Expect a shoot out. Tech's defense is the exact opposite of their offense and Navy will play their arse off after a heart breaking loss to Army .
I have LA Tech pulling it off 51-40

This really is a nice matchup. I don't expect the punters will get much action.

Personally, I think Skip Holtz is a decent coach and is working his way toward an opportunity to coach at a Power 5 school. He's shown he understands modern offense and his quarterbacks and receivers seem to improve substantially under his watch, unlike what's been happening at my favorite school.

I could see Navy holding the ball and shortening the game. Idk if there will be as many points scored as expected. Their best chance of winning is to keep Tech's offense on the sidelines.

This is going to be a terrible game for defense lovers.

Navy was good before they lost their qb
They are a completely different team now

I need tech to win outright or lose by less than 1.5 points.

Oh you mean they didn't turn it down for the Super Bowl?

Skip Holtz is doing a nice job in Ruston.
He is a couple of players away from being a very dangerous program....oh, and he needs a defensive coordinator.
All that said, Navy wins today with their ground attack. Tech has no defense right now.

I think Navy is on their 3rd string QB. Maybe their fourth string. That is why they have lost their last two games, 34-10 to Temple and Army.
quote:
the majority of their 17-point effort came as a result of Army’s 4-turnover performance.
quote:
Navy’s offense has been the key to their successful 2016 campaign, but that offense vanished with the injuries in the first half of their game against Temple. The team boasts the 80th-best pass defense in the country, giving up 242 yards/game to opposing QBs this year. Bear in mind that two opponents on Navy’s schedule (Air Force and Army) rarely pass the ball, which means that the Midshipmen’s pass defense is probably a little worse than the stats would suggest.
Louisiana Tech has the 96th-best scoring defense in the country.
quote:
LA Tech’s offensive matchup with Navy’s defense, on the other hand, won’t even be close. The Bulldogs have dominated better defenses all year long, and the Midshipmen have struggled to slow anyone down. Expect LA Tech to score on just about every single possession, making Navy defenders look like they’re trying out the Mannequin Challenge in the process.
quote:
A month ago, Navy would have been a decisive favorite to win this matchup. Now, current circumstances lead us to believe that they should be double-digit underdogs in this game. LA Tech will end their season on a high note, while the Midshipmen are left to pick up the pieces.
Prediction
LA Tech – 49
Navy – 31

The verdict is in. One team will be blown out today.

Isn't Navy on their 4th string QB? I mean, Navy was good earlier in the year, but they're nothing like that now.

Tech will be wearing their white helmets with the "Red, White, and Blue" Tech logo, a first. We usually wear them with the red helmets.
