La. Tech adds another big 3 star DT M. Pichon

Coach Dykes and this staff are doing a great job this year. 15 3stars and hanging right in there with So. Miss, Houston and Tulsa. With the lack of facilities, I am very impressed. La Tech clearly running away with the 2nd best class in the state. ULM, ULL, and Tulane can only watch. Sonny Dykes is proving to be a great recruiter.

Hudspeth has had a short year for recruiting but we've got some good athletes coming in and we're close to signing Montrel Carter. I imagine our recruiting classes will start to trump Tech's as soon as next year.

Youre naive if you think the demise of the WAC isn't going to hurt Tech's recruiting.

I can see that. He's pulling a lot of MS kids, but a lot of them have some pretty good offers. Now that he'll be consistently recruiting LA, I think they're going to start getting a few players to stay home rather than go to Tulsa or Southern Miss or UCF. They also need to keep an eye out for more guys like Broadway who do go out of state and then transfer back after one year b/c they don't like being away. I think he's going to do well for them.

As for Pichon, hopefully for Tech he turns into the next D'Anthony Smith. He's huge.

Dykes offense vs Huds offense is going to be a good battle for sure in the world of recruits. For right now I don't see ULL closing that gap in just one year. And Montrell Connor not Carter has visited Tech as well. If Dykes gets the facilites soon, ULL will still take a back seat. ULL hasn't out recruited Tech in the last 5 years so I don't see it happening soon.

Montrel Carter and Montrel Connor are two different people. We didn't offer Connor.

CBSsports keeps talking about the WAC inviting ULL and a bunch of schools that don't even play D1 right now. Nuts that they almost lost their auto bid for basketball

Cajuns may sign Montrel Carter, but it's not as close as you think it is.

What's more hilarious, you being a big fan of two state schools or the WAC's continued demise?

It's between us and Memphis, I'd say that's pretty close. He's coming for a visit this weekend.

I bet ULL being one of the worst programs in the nation next year will definitely help their recruiting

Until ULL has a Rivals site, Louisiana Tech will always have a leg up in this battle. The difference is at least respectable on Scout (81 for Tech and 110 for ULL), but its not even close on Rivals, where Tech has 13 three star recruits and ULL doesn't have a single one, with two 2-star players and most of their class yet to receive a rating.

LOL! Henderson, I don't blame you for getting excited about Hudspeth, and I think he'll do a better job in Lafayette than Bustle did, but I wouldn't start spouting ULL superiority statements right now. In fact, I wouldn't get my hopes up even about winning a lot of games this year, because it's a new coach. I figure it'll take at least a couple seasons before he shapes the Cajuns into more of a winner, so I'd say... have high goals and low expectations, at least this season. We all got WAY too hyped about Dykes and Franklin at Tech and had a whopping FIVE wins this year, just like Dooley had a crap first season too. Best of luck, but ULL out-recruiting Tech soon? Not likely, at least not for a while. I understand your feelings and opinion on it though. Maybe Hudspeth will bring ULL to their first bowl game in a couple years.

I think they should consider matching their 3 wins this season a success next year. Although, I seriously doubt they get to 3

I'm not expecting a ton of wins next season; I'm expecting to outrecruit Tech pretty soon though. Think about it, our staff has strong ties in Mississippi and the talent around here is so deep. Hudspeth is already forming relationships with high school coaches that Bustle never had. Add with that the uncertainty of La Tech's future and we're bound to steal some kids away.

Hudspeth has hired some very good recruiters for his staff. Reed Stringer was named of the SEC's top 10 recruiters in 2009 by rivals.com. Mitch Rodrigue was probably the best recruiter at Southern Miss when he coached there. David Saunders had a very good reputation as a recruiter while working at Ole Miss.

You're confusing Montrell Conner and Montrel Carter. We didn't offer Conner, he will probably end up at La Tech. We offered Montrel Carter and he's coming in for a visit this weekend, he's deciding between us and Memphis.

ETA -- this is Montrel Carter LINK
