LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Tech scored four runs in the seventh to break up a tied ball game while Adam Derouen and the rest of the Bulldog pitchers held 14th-ranked UL Lafayette to four hits to lead the Bulldogs to a 6-3 victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns Wednesday night at Tigue Moore Field in Lafayette.

Tech has now swept the season series over UL Lafayette tonight’s 6-3 win and a 6-2 victory earlier in the season in Ruston. The win marked Tech’s third over a ranked opponent this season with two victories over the Ragin’ Cajuns and a victory at No. 12 Arkansas in March. The last time the Bulldogs defeated three nationally-ranked teams in a single season dates back to the 2006 campaign.

For the second night in a row, Tech’s offense scored multiple runs late in the game to retake the lead over an in-state opponent. With the game tied, 1-1, Tech put up a four-spot in the top of the seventh thanks to five hits, three of which went for extra bases, and two errors by the Cajuns to put the Bulldogs ahead, 5-1, late in the game.

Tech outhit UL Lafayette, 12-4, on the night, while the Bulldogs recorded five doubles and a home run in the win. The Bulldogs’ defense also played a role with Tech turning three double plays against the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Tech has always owned ULL no matter what the sport. We always chalked them up as a foregone win when I was a student.

LaTech has dominated UL-L in football the past couple of decades. The scores are crazy in regards to just how bad LaTech whips that arse.

It was not until recently that LaTech has begun to flex its muscle against the Cajuns in other sports.

I want to see the drawings of Tech's new west side stadium expansion for the press box / suites. Word is they are bringing down the entire 3 level press box structure and going with a brand new, state of the art facility that will go from goal line to goal line.

Doesn't seem like the time to be laughing at ULL down the road for losing to an instate team while we can't handle an instate team ourselves.

Lol, this line of thinking is completely retarded.

So because I root for a team that lost (ROOT FOR, not played for), I cant laugh at other teams misfortunes?

So because I root for LSU Football, I can't make a single comment on another college team's quarterback because the team I root for has recently had shitty QB play?

Great logic

ULL is hitting something like .126 in their last 4 games. Not going to be beating anyone anytime soon swinging the bats like that.

ETA: They had 3 runs on 2 hits last night after 8 innings.

ULL fans just can't accept that Tech might be better in baseball than in the past. They keep talking about how this is Tech's World Series

It is y'all World Series. Just like when the Cajuns crow about beating LSU. While the gap between LSU and UL is closer than the gap between UL and La Tech is in baseball this is y'all biggest game/s of the season.

Congrats you won 2 this year, overall outside of football, head to head the Cajuns have dominated the stick and ball sports.

27 years since LaTurds last Regional appearance? 20+ years since y'all last NCAA basketball appearance?

If that were the case you would act like it was a regular game. But y'all don't. P

At least it is a sport that doesn't matter.

Much more embarrassing when it is football every time they play.
