It's on NBATV now, and Kobe and many others are live tweeting the game.

He scored 20 in the last 6 minutes of the game.
27 in the 3rd quarter
28 in the 4th quarter

and they were losing by double digits in the 3rd.

yeah maybe you should watch the game. They tried everything possible against him. There was no stopping him that night.

While 81 is insane and Kobe gets credit, he has forced every shot I've seen him take in the 15 minutes I've been watching. Begging for the ball and taking shots he shouldn't. It's the most Kobe being Kobe game I've ever seen.

What did you want him to do? try not to set a record?
If you watched the 1st half, you'd know why he's forcing everything. The Lakers were terrible, absolutely terrible in that game.
One they got to the 4th quarter the Lakers knew they were going to win, it was just to see how many Kobe would get.
All of his teammates were giving him the ball every possession.

He obviously took a lot of shots but he still shot almost 61% from the field...

He deserves credit. It just looked like today's Kobe with him taking some of those shots at the end. Several fade away threes where it was clear he was just throwing it up and praying it would go in.

I do believe that if you get Jordan in his prime and have him throw up 46 shots + 20 free throws, he'd be able to put up a similar number. The combination of the Lakers being garbage and that being the season where Kobe carried them on his back allowed for such a performance. Definitely one of the greatest in league history.

Kobe had a 9 games where he attempted over 40 shots. Lakers were 6-3 in those games.

Michael had 9 games where he attempted over 39 shots.
Bulls were 3-6 in those games. Michael also owns the record for the most FGA in a game at 49. He only scored 64 in that game, in a loss.

Jordan Kobe and Iverson are littered all over the most FGA in a game in league history.

People conveniently forget how much of a ball hog Michael was, just like Kobe. Kobe averaged 4.7 assists per game over his career. Michael is at 5.3. Not really that big of a difference.

They were both ball hogs, and both forced a shite ton of shots over their careers, and are the two best scorers to ever play.

That season Kobe did some amazing things scoring on that crappy team.
He actually ended his consecutive free throw streak that 81 pt game at 62.
He had 27 40 point games that season.
There was a time, around when he scored the 81, where i remember putting sportscenter on everyday to see what he did the night before. He was scoring 40, 50 points regurlarly and had highlight dunks in many of the games.
he was robbed out of the MVP that year from Steve Nash.
