Kobe Bryant's Muse

Love him or hate him, I think most sports fans would find the documentary very interesting. Tons of behind the scenes stuff with Kobe during his rehab, early career, his rape case etc.
This was never made public before now but he admits that his wife miscarried what would've been their second child when the aftermath of Colorado was going on.
Kobe lets his guard down more than I've ever seen in a public interview. Talks about why he's the outcast that he is and just what makes him click, in general.
Here's a link to stream the entire documentary LINK
Here's some of the teaser clips

I find him hard not to like now. Can't wait to watch.

He also explains how and why he created The Black Mamba alter ego. The story about how he came upon the rage inside of him on the court was fascinating as well. I just finished it and would suggest any basketball fan to watch.

Purely a $$$$ move. Career is done. Great player. How anyone can excuse the way he ratted out other players infedility is beyond me. The most disliked superstar ever.

You, as a Kobe hater, have never heard about that? Wow
When Kobe got arrested, he mentioned to the police how he should've paid that woman hush money "like Shaq does with his women". Or something like that.

I honestly forgot that even happened

"Or something like that" always makes me think a story is 100% credible.

It was on record by the police when the rape stuff was going on iirc.

Damn. He must have covered that up well because you are right. I would be the one to know that.

I've always liked Kobe. I also like the intense a-hole guys that no one else seems to like though, like Kevin Garnett.
I respect their work ethic and their don't give a shite what others think attitude. All they care about is winning, worry about being friends later.
I'm probably in the minoritys for liking those guys.

I had to do some digging but I found it.
LINK
Shaq said the above in reference to the five million dollar rock Kobe bought his wife shortly after he was charged.
Ah, the Shaq/Kobe feud was something to behold

quote:
Bryant told detectives in Eagle, Colo., "he should have done what Shaq does ... that Shaq would pay his women not to say anything" and already had paid up to $1 million "for situations like this."
The comment was written down by Det. Doug Winters but not recorded on tape.
"He stated he, Bryant, treats a woman with respect, therefore they shouldn't say anything," Winters wrote.
quote:
"This whole situation is ridiculous," O'Neal told ESPN. "I never hang out with Kobe, I never hung around him. In the seven or eight years we were together, we were never together. So how this guy can think he knows anything about me or my business is funny. And one last thing -- I'm not the one buying love. He's the one buying love."

Coming through with the research.

So this is an attempt to spin him as likable for his post bball career in whatever?

I find Kobe interesting and he's always been a great interview but I just have no interest in seeing this doc. Kobe has final say on it. It reeks of self-promotion. How can someone as notoriously self-absorbed as Kobe produce anything even approaching introspection of any value to anyone who isn't an adoring fan that just wants to lap up what he's selling?
I just don't see what this doc has to offer unless we're just that fascinated with what Kobe wants us to think of him.

Despite what your average message board poster might think of Kobe, he doesn't need spinning. He will get a chance to do whatever he sees fit at the next level. I really hope he coaches personally. The potential storylines....
Also, Kobe is about the least fake player in the NBA right now. I'm not sure why people hate him so much. What you see is what you get cause he frankly doesn't care about anything but "Kobe competing". It's respectable at least.
I also find it interesting that people are calling out the documentary on the idea that he has final say and no sports documentary ever has input from the athlete. The love/hate for Kobe is truly fascinating.
