in an 11-year span 2000-2010, he appeared in 1,196 games and had 4,834 plate appearances ... with only 17 stolen bases.

that's about 1.55 SB per season

Tough to steal bases when you're dropping dingers left and right.

Here's something many people haven't heard of regarding Junior -- in 1988 at age 17, Griffey consumed 277 aspirin in a botched suicide attempt.

So you're saying the (at least) 30 year old with a series of leg injuries wasn't stealing many bases? That's not too amazing if you think about how badly his legs held up once he got to Cincinnati.

But at least the 167 stolen bases over the 11 years prior to that point helped him reach the Hall of Fame.

I had forgotten how great Griffey Jr. was in his prime. In his last 4 years in Seattle (26-29 years old), Junior had 209 home runs, 567 RBIs, and 75 stolen bases while hitting .294.

Well it's better than 1.54 SBs per season.

Missed an average of 53 games a season. I'll always hate the fact that injuries derailed the back end of his career.

He averaged 21 HRs per season during that span.

2000 was about that last Griffey ish season we got from him.

Its pretty unfair to just ignore the first 10 years of one of the best players to ever play the game

His per 162 on the span of his career was
86R
34HR
98RBI
with a slash of .262/.355/.493

and that was the SHITTY part of his career

Ken Griffey Jr is freaking cursed or he might have been a curse himself. The Mariners were 76-85 and 79-83 in Griffey's last two years in Seattle. Griffey gets traded to Cincinnati and the Mariners promptly go to the ALCS the next two years including winning a record 116 games in 2001. Meanwhile, the Reds were a 96-win team that tied for the Wild Card the year before Griffey's arrival. You would think the Griffey trade would be the move that put them over the top. Instead, Cincinnati won 85 games in Griffey's first season and then had nine consecutive losing seasons.
