Really havent heard much from the media on this. This was the nail in the coffin imo. The chance of Brees not driving into FG range with 1:30 plus with a TO is extremely low.

A top NFL player would NOT make a mistake like that.

I couldn't believe he did that. Not only did he run out of bounds, but he did it on a 3rd down. Cut back into the field and worst case (outside of a fumble) is that you still don't make it and the Saints have to use their last timeout. Combine that bonehead move with the idiotic special teams play and that gave Brees a chance to drive down the field.

That plus the timeout at 2:01 really saved the saints some time on the clock. I had to SMH at my brother who text me asking why SP took that timeout before the 2 minute warning.

I was at the game and the 9er fan behind me gasped audibly.

I thought to myself...wtf?? Why would he do that??

By the way, the 49ers had a 55% chance of winning the game when they got the ball back the last time.

If that were RG or Vick, SportsCenter would have a "centerpiece" on it saying how they don't have right mental awareness as a Manning Or Brady...

It was a young QB mistake. After a reviewing the film and going over it with coaches, he'll understand how big of a mistake that was.

He basically handed us the game.

I always wonder how coaches are allowed to get away with arse-clownery like this, but now I know why. People like you are not only not bright enough to realize how stupid that timeout was but actually go as far as to praise Payton for it.

That timeout saved exactly 1 second at the cost of a timeout. The next play was an incomplete pass so the clock would have stopped anyway. The 2 minute warning was not used to stop the clock.

Jesus Christ, I hope you were being sarcastic with your post although I really just don't think you were.

It wasn't about that. It was about keeping momentum going into the game winning kick for Emo.

Everybody knows that.

Only a semi-legit number b/c it doesn't take into account the fact that our defense had completely snuffed out CK the last few drives.

Kid had no confidence and Niners had no chance of sustaining a drive.

I thought that play was run before the 2 minute warning so the clock would have stopped anyway

Nope. That play was run after the 2 min warning. Saints got the ball back after the punt with about 1:40 left on the clock.

Wait what? I don't know what I just read. If Kaep hadn't run out of bounds, we wouldn't have had any timeouts left on our final drive because of Payton's illogical decision to call a timeout at 2:01.

You understand that right?

Yep. ESPN tries to make news instead of reporting it.

Thanks Kaep.
