The thing about the Rangers is they're full of great prospects and think they will be fine. But the thing about prospects is that's all they are, guys who have the potential to be good players.

Prospects are great, but it is always better to "bridge" them along, than to say "hey, go hit lead off, or in the middle of the lineup" and expect the team not to miss a beat.

You go from having one of the best teams in the AL to having a cloud over the team going into 2013

Rangers went from perpetual favorite to 3rd best in the west so far this offseason, and Seattle is getting better

Yes and as I said earlier, as it relates to 2013, this is a tough one for the Rangers. Thereafter, there is much more risk for Anaheim in this one.

Just my opinion.

LOL at every Rangers fan acting like they are ok (and in some cases HAPPY) that their best player went to their biggest rival.

Wilson had a terrible second half. I'm not convinced he is even a No. 2

September he had a 3.86 ERA and October 2.84 ERA only 6 starts in those 2 months however, his horribly month was August where he posted 7.99 ERA and you can say that came from 3 bad starts where he gave up 8 to Texas, 7 to Det, and 6 to Boston

Time will tell on this one.

Everybody thought the Angels would have a great chance to take the division last year and they blew out.

The A's came out of no where. Can they repeat last year, I'm not sure.

We will see what happens. I won't react on a move like this until we see where things go during the season.

When Cruz has been healthy, he's hit. And I think the Rangers should worry about the Rangers, not the Angels. Teams get into trouble trying to keep up with the Joneses. You can only control what you do.

And there's the concern. There's a huge whole at 1st and behind the plate, and now one in LF (Murphy is a nice role player, and you can shift Gentry to CF I guess, but you need a power corner OF bat). You still have to address the rotation, which lacks a stopper.

The team keeps amassing holes and is waiting to address them. Late free agent signings are almost always a bad idea. Once the top tier is gone, you might as well avoid the whole thing. It's those second tier players getting big deals which kill you.

But the worst thing is I don't see a plan.

Ha..you're one of my favorite posters on the board.

This handicaps the Rangers in 2013, no doubt.

But would you give this man a 5 year $125 mil deal at 31 years old? I think it's an unwise deal.

Plus, I really have soured on him and think he hurt the chemistry of the team in the last month. He is a good player no doubt.

We will see how this bares itself out.

Seems like it with a 34 year old Beltre to go with Kinsler and Cruz who have close to the same plate presence as Hamilton.

The thing about Ian Kinsler is he's overrated as all get out. He's got good pop for a 2nd baseman but since he's probably going to have to move to the outfield or first base bc of Profar, he's going to be below average offensively compared to other guys at his position

That's a cool signing and all, but who's gonna pitch for the Angels next year? They lost 3/5 of their staff.

Angels should flip Trumbo for pitching (Dickey?) while his value is highest.

Guy doesn't walk and strikes out a lot and had a dismal second half.

They don't have a choice. Outside of Beltre and Darvish they can't get name players to sign with them, even if they were worth the signing risk (and Darvish did only because under the posting system, he had no choice). Cliff Lee got out as soon as he could.

They may as well try the prospect route. If it works, great; if not, well, what do you expect from a franchise that should have been a contraction candidate when that talk was popular only to be saved by being in a major media market?
