It's ridiculous the numbers this guy is putting up this season.

Probably will be the closest 3-way vote in MLB/MVP voting history.

Yeah and it probably should be. I am biased and think Altuve should win but all three have been incredible

He might, Trout will get killed by the traditional voters for his team being in last place and one of the worst teams in baseball.

If the Stros miss the playoffs too, Donaldson will get it.

Can't find an updated list but as of August 3rd, these were the odds to win MVP for the record...

quote:

Jose Altuve (HOU) +150
Mike Trout (LAA) +300
Josh Donaldson (TOR) +500
Manny Machado (BAL) +700
Mookie Betts (BOS) +900
Robinson Cano (SEA) +1000
David Ortiz (BOS) +1000
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) +1000

Eta: but keep in mind the Astros have lost a shite ton of games since August 3rd putting them on the outside looking in of the playoff race, albeit still not far enough back to count them out

Altuve on the road since May 1 (39 games)

.503/.553/.690

He's hitting like .420 or so on the road and a paltry ( ) .300ish at home

Tuve can go 0-98 after today and still have a .300 avg.

That's sick

No but the all time hits record is in trouble if Mighty Mouse stays healthy

in all seriousness, he should win MVP.

but the astros aren't going to make the playoffs, so that'll hurt his chances with some of the voters, unfortunately.

At this point there really is no wrong answer between Altuve, Trout and Donaldson.

How many multi hit games has Altuve had this year vs the others. Also how many 3+ hit games has Altuve had vs the others. The guy is dominant and he's 5'5 what's not to love? You don't get bonus points for doing the impossible at the size of a 6th grader?

Astros (unbelievably considering the way they've been playing) are only 3 games out of the WC

Well I know he's got 8 4-hit games this season. I think the next closest is 4

If anything, being 5'5 is an advantage since it shrinks his strike zone.

Regardless, dude is absolutely raking. He'd have my vote for MVP at this point.
