Jeter's 3000th hit, Bonds 756th homer, I'm keeping and selling all of them and not feeling one bit of remorse for doing so.

I would give those back, big-time mile stone/records, I just wouldn't feel right keeping those.

But the winning score in one of two conference title game?? I'm sorry that's just stupid. Did Kearse even ask for it back?

He chose to be an idiot and throw it in the crowd.

He isn't getting that back.

I just would feel badly because Jeter's 3000th hit isn't supposed to be a homer. Not a fan in the park is thinking that they'll catch it
If you want your 3000th hit, don't hit a homerun!!!!

ETA: And the package the fan received for giving it back was probably worth at least $100,000 lol
Wait what? THen I may revise my statement lol. I'll just go with the highest bidder/most attractive offer, that's where I'm going with it.

I think not selling the ball to provide for his children seems to be consistent with his other life choices.

I know it's probably dumb for me to use my sensibilities towards how Jeter would obviously feel about the 3000th hit ball, but I'm not one for memorabelia or autographs or anything like that, it just never was interesting to me.

So I guess since I don't feel the attachment to it, I just want top dollar for it!! Admittedly, taht's kinda silly since Jeter or whoever would obviously feel more attached to it than I would.

The Yankees gave the 23-year-old Lopez four luxury suite tickets for each of the team's remaining home games, including the postseason, as well as three bats, three balls and two jerseys all signed by Jeter. He also received front-row seats for Sunday's game, which reportedly sell for up to $1,358.90 each.

The hit was in early July.

4 luxury suite tickets for basically half a season? At Yankees games? That's a shite ton of cash value. They made the postseason that year as well, so I can't imagine how much box seats would sell for in those games.

However, I'm pretty sure he probably got taxed a lot for it

I'm actually the same way. I don't collect memorabilia myself, but I get the people that do, and I understand how a ball like that would mean something.

But, I'm not mad at anyone who cashes in on that.

If it's so important, either Jeter or the Yankees can counter. Or they can comp you in some other way if you're a fan.

If the person cared that much about it, I would give him an opportunity to match it or at least come somewhat close to best offer. It's just too much money for your average guy to leave on the table out of the goodness of his heart. Not to mention that Jeter or maybe even the team should be able to match whatever is best offer out there pretty easily.

He better sell it within the next two weeks. That ball loses a lot of value of the Seahawks don't win it all.

Or he could gamble and hope to cash it for more if they win

Quick google search shows he was arrested for trying to sell guns on Craigslist. Kea rae called him and asked for the ball back and offered a jersey and helmet signed by the team. The guy countered with Super Bowl tickets...but not $20,000?

I think he's stupid but there are a ton of stupid people in the world so it's not out of the realm of possibility that all this publicity leads to a Kickstarter for him and he ends up with 100K and still gets to keep the ball.

If he was smart this is EXACTLY what he would do.

I would hold for a few more days or maybe a week or two and see if I get a better offer. If not, sell it to the guy that offered $20k.

Hmmm, that is a tough decision. Hold onto it, and if the Hawks win the SB, then that 20K goes up up up, but if they don't win, then it stays at 20K at best.

I'm not willing to automatically assume, just because he's unemployed and about to go to jail, that's he poor or doesn't have any money saved somewhere.

I can respect someone doing this, but IMO it's completely misplaced kindness.

I don't feel as though the player is entitled to whatever item they chunk into the stands. Therefor there's no chance in hell I'd give it back to them. Even if they asked.
