And keep this shite on it's designated Saints circle jerk board.

He doesn't play for the Saints, so the MSB would be the appropriate spot for this type of thread, no?

No, but it's easy to find people bad mouthing him now who never did before.

Last year if I brought up his blocking people usually dismissed it because of his receiving. Now all they talk about is his blocking. Seattle brought him there for his receiving capabilities, not blocking.

Jimmy is maybe the best receiving TE in the game. There is no doubt he is elite in that area. In other aspects of TE play he was average or below average. Saints will miss the big target, especially when it comes to jump balls in the red zone. He was nearly automatic there.

However, he was demanding CRAZY money and we could never pay him that and improve our team in areas that needed it. As a team, we are better off with a (hopefully) franchise MLB and a beastly Center. Our OL and middle of the defense were abysmal last year and Drew has proven he can run an elite offense with any targets.

I think we are better off. We will miss the excitement and big plays, but the core of the team is much stronger. Drew’s INTs will go down with better protection and our WOAT defense is already looking much better.

all of this. Also, Drew started to get tunnel vision Jimmy and our offense really started plateauing last season. Our offense works best when we have many options and Drew spreads the ball around, imo. Unger has looked like a beast so far, too. My biggest regret about trading him was that we shipped him to freaking Seattle.

Ditto.

Why couldn't the fricking Chiefs or Raiders have a badass center and want a trade?

God I hate he is with Seattle

Unger is going to be a monster for us and having that experienced, dominant center helps the entire OL a ton.

This is why is he is not a TE. Blocking is part of the position and with that who would yall say is the greatest ALL-AROUND TE in NFL history. The stats and blocking ability should make this choice simple.

Would rather have the better offensive line than the flashy name TE anyway

I really think it was good trade for both teams. Seattle was missing an elite receiving target and Saints badly needed offensive line and defensive help.

Why? Are you claiming the Saints didn't get a fair trade?

I don't think they got good value

The only upside is they didn't have to pay him what he wanted

Well we didn't "let him go". We traded him for a monster center and got our starting rookie Mlb out of it. I'll miss the guys receiving ability but acting like the Saints gave him away is nonsense.

Lol. The Saints front office put themselves in a position where they had to get rid of one of the most talented receiving TE's the NFL has ever seen.

Is that better?

we won a super bowl with an old Jeremy shockey. I'll miss watching jimmy but I'll take stability on both sides of the ball instead

We didn't "have to" get rid of him. We made the decision that what we could get for him plus the cap space made it beneficial to trade him. We had holes in the oline and linebacker and the trade was a way of addressing those needs. Your purposely being obtuse.

Seems like a trade that could work out well for both teams
