I see no reason to expect a turnaround back into legitimate SB contention. The offense will remain an abortion and we effectively passed on (de facto fired) the DC that led the team to Top 5 defenses each of the 4 years he was here. Fangio's job this year with the injuries and suspensions was a complete masterpiece.

I feel like we're the new Raiders.

Yeah that's the real head scratcher. Why would you pick Tomsula over Fangio?

Because then again head coach would be getting the credit instead of the owner/GM. The egos in that front office are hilariously big.

I'm having a hard time deciding if Tomsula is seriously that shitty or if he was intentionally being a dick because the interviewer was a piece of shite

Tomsula is usually pretty charismatic, these just aren't shoes he's used to stepping in.

I saw a few other interviews he did and he didn't have any trouble finding his words

I think it will still be a failure though, and it will be glorious to see Jed York fail. Just another snotty douche and a product of nepotism

It's not a good interview, but the interviewer asks a question and then continues talking for 30 seconds instead of letting Coach Tomsula answer. Tomsula should've moved the mic away from his mouth though, that certainly didn't help!

Why the frick not? If he was such an outstanding candidate, why the charade with Adam Gase?

Here are the various problems with this whole debacle

1. The team need someone who is going to mould Kaepernick into something better than last year. The offense should improve because it can't really do much worse, but he has some flaws in his game. Promoting the D-line coach to head coach is not in any way addressing this key need.

2. The whole episode just makes it look like Baalke and Jed York don't have a fricking clue but are desperate to run the show themselves. They arsed about for the best part of a month after they mutually parted ways on Harbaugh's arse. And now they have no co-ordinators. Jay Glazer said Harbaugh was leaving in week 1, that had to come from the FO, and they have no one lined up. WTF?

3. If there was any question around the league (I.E. in the minds of potential head coaches, co-ordinators and free agents) that this was a shite organization to work for, there isn't now. The fact that the parting was "Mutual" simply shows that one side didn't value talent or success.

On the surface, a huge step down from Harbaugh. But new blood is still better than a Shanahan/Cable/Norv type retread.

Nobody knew Mike Tomlin when the Steelers promoted him from DB coach.

My post was partially in jest, BUT give the guy a shot before shooting it down. I'm not thrilled about the hire and I'm not going into meltdown mode. I hate this internet mentality of everything is amazing or everything is the worst.

Just like any other coaching searching, who's to say how much is a smoke screen and how much was legit discussion. We don't know besides beat reporters and their sources. Am I missing comments from Gase?

Agreed, the OC hire will be a huge factor in that regard. Hopefully it's someone with a record of being great with QBs.

How many coordinators or coaches are going to put out feelers during the season? Probably not many that we'd want to be hired.
