Michigan looks like a team you don't want to play again, while the 49ers have tanked. The QB is completely lost...

It blows my mind how 1 hire can make that big of an impact

it isn't like professionals weren't hired before and after...

I am impressed thus far..

Michigan's tough play makes Utah look even scarier, not that they need much help after last Saturday.

It's hard to say how much impact he had on SF b/c it was very clear from the first presser that Jim Tomsula is way in over his head. That guy would be a disaster no matter where he went.

As for Michigan, Oregon St is mediocre at best and BYU is still a bit of a question mark w/o Hill at QB. Winning those games was a step forward though.

Jim's career died in SF after he went all in with Kaep. Should have kept Smith. A much better fit for his system.

He developed Kaepernick into a QB who nearly won a Super Bowl, and they almost went to another one the very next year if not for a ridiculous play by Richard Sherman.

He is fantastic. Maybe one of the best overall coaches in football. He will be up for all the open NFL jobs this year. The 49ers should have just stayed out of his way.

It's the same thing with Kansas State and Snyder.

He retired in 2005 and the program tanked. They begged him to come back 3 years later and they eventually got back to #1.

Some guys just don't make good head coaches.

FIFY. He did a fantastic job with Kaepernick's overall development though. Kaepernick isn't gonna last in SF without Harbaugh.

Well, he took Stanford from irrelevant to running up the score on Pete Carroll and USC.

I'd say he's pretty good.

Kap was Harbaugh's guy, who he claimed was the best overall player in the draft that year. He's looked mediocre since the SB year under Harbaugh's development. I don't know why people don't consider that when discussing him, if that's his eye for talent then the Niners were right to draw the line in the sand with respect to not giving him more control over the roster (which he was a baby back bitch about considering he was gifted a supremely talented team by Baalke). The opposite side of the ball from Harbaugh's expertise was what carried the Niners to contention, Fangio was the unsung hero of those teams, all 4 years they were Top 5 defenses.

He will always bring an initial culture change and everyone will buy-in but in the long run he's not someone capable of sustained excellence and he'll always be hated in time. It only took the Niners (FO and players) 4 seasons filled largely with excellence to tune out.

It is kind of amazing. How is it even possible to be that much better than everyone else? You would think some of his former assistants would be able to copy whatever he's doing.

Harbaugh in a few years is going to be the reason urban meyer fakes a stroke, because let's be honest, a second heart attack isn't as convincing, and goes to the ACC after spending a full 3 days with his family.

I'm a little more nervous than I thought I'd be about November 28 after the last few weeks. I hope Urban and Harbaugh both stick around for the long haul and bring the rivalry back to Woody and Bo levels.

I said from the jump I don't expect Harbaugh to coach Michigan for more than 6 or 7 years but that will be enough. Mark my words the recruiting class he is putting together this year will go down as 1 of the greatest of all time.

Michigan gets Michigan State and Ohio State at home.

And since Michigan State is the most overrated team in the country, I expect Michigan to be undefeated in conference play going into the Ohio State game.

Harbaugh just needs to be the "program fixer". Get paid huge money to go from team to team and bring them back to prominence, spend about 4 years in each spot.

He's absolutely GREAT at building a team. I don't know if his style can sustain anywhere. He will take his toll on people.
