Im extremely angry and disappointed. I had to lose my career and never opted to cheat no matter what.i had to throw in the towel and suffer
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
i didn't have the high priced team of drs that found a way for me to cheat and get around the system and wait for science to catch up
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
the responses are exactly what i am talking about. everything based on illusion and lie driven by the media for over 20 yrs. beyond unfair
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
something is wrong with the whole system. The intentions of the system was never morally grounded to begin with
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
I just think it takes away from the sport and the hard work if true. Yes its hard to be kicked when down, when injured and out
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016

Everyone reading what's written and assuming it's true is wrong. It's just wrong. all of it not true. Nothing of what u read is true
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
It shouldn't matter on whether I have an opinion or not anyways whether it's true about me or not. Look at what's happening all around?
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
People being taken down for speaking the truth. People that have the power to take people down do and think they can. That's why I am vocal
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
It's all not true. I was given the human right to be happy and live a life of happiness not my life being told as a lie and taken from me
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
All the lies have robbed me of my life at some point enough is enough and a line must be drawn or you must fight back for pride and dignity
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
Young people asking me if I'm relevant here and who I am?? I've been here my entire life. Since I could walk I have been part of it
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
Back to Sharapova:

What's the point of someone taking a heart medicine that helps your heart recover faster unless you have a heart condition? Is thataccurate?
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016

It's always about one thing that benefits everyone.#money
— Jennifer Capriati (@JenCapriati) March 7, 2016
How things have changed..wow

I guess she's melting because she wanted to dope, but didn't? Sharapova got caught, the system worked.

I will say that everyone seems meh about this Sharapova news, but as somebody said in another thread today, there would be a firestorm if Serena failed a test.

Take a look at Maria then look at Serena. That's why there is no firestorm about Maria. Her penalty should be that she has to play exhibition matches against Wozniaki and have them televised until baseball season starts.

To be fair, if the best ever in any sport gets caught doping there would be a firestorm.

Well when she has to compete against a man I can understand why she felt like she had to do something to try and keep up.

, no. Look at the way each is built:

vs.

I think most people see Sharapova and hear of the failed drug test and thing - damn, those things weren't doing a damn thing for her.

Was what sharapova doing more like doping? In that it is more for endurance and stamina than steroids or hgh which is strength and size?

Maybe sharapova thought she could just run Serena to death? Or other competitors, while her big strong "Drago Heart" would never get above 100-110?

I'm not really sure, but it would be like finding out Matthew Dellavedova or Jeremy Lin failed a drug test for PEDs - you'd just shrug it off and continue your day.

Uh, not sure if you are going with a sarcasm but it makes a big difference if somebody is taking something to help them run forever versus the competitor huffing and puffing.

More like it would be finding out Kevin Durant or Steph Curry was taking PEDs. But you are right, people would not care about them two, but this board would explode if Bron got caught

while sharapova is one of the bigger stars in the sport, its still a sport most of the population doesn't really care about. Sharapova is more known for being hot to the general public vs. her prowess as a tennis player.

now serena being the sports biggest star by a large margin would be a bigger headline. I don't think its really a race issue.

I agree, but Slackster's analogy was terrible.

Meh, I can't blame her for being upset. Capriati was the poster child for how not to break into women's tennis as a teenager (I'd be willing to bet that the Williams sisters early careers were designed to avoid the burnout that ruined Capriati). Once she finally managed to get her personal life squared away Capriati was just as dominant as people had predicted she would be in tennis.

Only to have a horrible run of luck causing her to be injured all the time and her career to collapse. I'd say she has good reason for being royally POed that someone else took PEDs. If any of us were in her shoes we'd probably be fairly unhappy about this turn of events too.

She was using a medicine for heart disease, I don't understand the drama.
