With all the talk of Grienke, Lincecum, Joba, etc., many are forgetting about another young pitcher with ace stuff.

And just for you Mets fans
With everybody so excited about Hanson and Medlen (and for good reason), let's not forget about this guy who I hope we can sign to a long term deal.

Five years from now, he's an ace, if he's healthy. If you said you could have Jurrjens or [the Mets' Mike] Pelfrey, I'd take Jurrjens 10 times out of 10.

you'd like to see him strike out more batters

I think he will. He's only in his 2nd full season. DLowe refers to him as the Braves best pitcher. Good stuff.

He really doesn't. Like DLowe, he pitches to contact. You don't have be overpowering to be dominant.

I agree. Once he fine tunes that out pitch - hard breaking slider or devasting changeup, his K's will go up.
I had him last year in fantasy and he did well

for the most part, outside of a few pitchers, you do have to K guys in order to be "dominant".
then again i dont think of Lowe or Jurrjens as dominant. Lowe is more of a #2 and i think Jurrjens prob projects about there too.

dominant is defined by Roy Halladay
always goes deep into games.. is a very smart pitcher.. never waste a pitch.. induces a ton of ground balls and K's..
goes right after a hitter and gets ahead in the count most of the time.
I believe he is best pitcher in the game... but if greinke stays poised all year, he may earn the Cy Young (especially if the royals make playoffs)

yeah, and thats not Jurrjens IMO.
And Halladay has really just started to K a lot of guys. Like on an elite level.

very true, last season and into this season halladay is around 8 k's per 9 inn
jair's biggest problem right now is for career is at .36 bb's/inn - or just over 3 per 9..
dominant is 1 - 1.5 per 9

So some anonymous scout thinks in 5 years the 6'0 160lb Jurrjens will be an ace and would take him over the 6'7 200lb Mike Pelfrey 10 out of 10 times? really?
Jurrjens has a high effort delivery and maxes out at 92 right now, versus Pelfrey with his low effort delivery and maxes out at 98? Who do you think this anonymous scout is? Albert Brooks?

Pelfrey is worse at missing bats than Jurrjens. Even with his good stuff. He's got that flat, flat fastball

We had YOUR ace and OUR jojo the idiot circus boy going this week and still took 2/3. Stop your bitching.
