It's unfortunate Mark Dantonio has been loyal to Michigan State for all of these years

Imagine the type of career he would have had at a bigger program with more access to better athletes like Georgia or USC or Texas. We would have been talking about him as one of the great coaches of this era. He's still has a really good coaching career but it could have been so much better.

Not every good coach has to go to a powerhouse school

Some coaches just get in where they fit in. Like Snyder at KSU. Could you imagine Dantonio having a year like last year at LSU? He would be on the hot seat.

He has job security there. Imagine him going 3-9 at an SEC school?

He's spent his entire career coaching in the rust belt. Not sold he'd be the answer for a school outside the Big 10

Or he could have ruined his legacy. I mean he didn't even make a bowl last season. I think he is a good coach, but is a fit for Michigan st.

Because Georgia or USC or Texas have been sure fire powerhouses over the past decade

Let's see he's won a Rose Bowl and a Cotton Bowl and made the final four in college football. That's pretty good at any place.

What he has done at Michigan State is remarkable. And he has done with constant doubt and almost no fanfare from the Harbaugh and Meyer obsessed media

$5.6 million according to the Detroit Free Press in 2014

That's beyond just his base salary, mind you.

If he were making just 3.2/yr with incentives, he would've been hired away by someone like NC State by now.

Hate to tell you, but Georgia isn't a bigger or better program than Sparty.

I have to disagree. MSU will always be second fiddle to UM in the state of Michigan. UGA is tops in the state of Georgia,
