Liberal Media

They just cannot help, but have to make a social/race issue out of everything.

I predict very good ratings for this superbowl.

It will either be Peytons triumphant curtain call or Cam kicking down the door and unapologetically showcasing a new era. Either way its going to be a fun watch.

You can. I'm pulling for the Broncos and no one has called me a racist.

Yes, but if someone asks why youre pulling for the Broncos and you say "because I dont like Cam Newton", more times than not it will be assumed that a racial reasoning is behind it. That's what the OP is saying. I dont like Cam Newton either, but it's because he's an in your face arrogant "that's just having fun" celebrating every first down with no class type of person that rubs me the wrong way. I dont like him because he has no idea how to act like he's been there before. I think Tom Brady is arrogant too, but he does it in a subtle way that's alot more accepting. So does Aaron Rodgers. Russell Wilson is the opposite of arrogant, but he also rubs me the wrong way. Not a big fan of him either and I think he's awkward as frick. Teddy Bridgewater is black but is classy, just like anyone else would be. Johnny Manziel is white and seems like a real piece of shite. I have my opinions on these people based off my perceptions of them off of what Im exosed to by them (because frankly none of us know any of these people). By heresay, Eli Manning is supposedly a huge tool/douchebag piece of shite when he's not around a camera, which make me dislike him too. It's not a racial thing, but the media always makes it a racial thing.

If you are rooting for the Broncos because youre rooting for Peyton and also because you dont like Cam Newton, you will automatically be labeled as racist. That is what the OP is saying and I agree with it.

The media did this with Doug Williams back in 1989 and they did it again with Tony Dungy in the colts first Super Bowl and then with Richard Sherman two years ago now they're doing it again I'm so fricking sick of it

[quote]Why wasn't this an issue the last two years with Russell Wilson? I think it speaks volumes to the real racists and what they think about Russell.[/quote
I heard someone call into Bomani Jones' radio show and say he prefers Wilson over Newton, and when Jones asked him 'why', the guy stuttered for a bit, so Jones jumped in and accused him of liking Wilson because he doesn't "act black" and/or he "acts white."

The problem there is that Jones wants it to be a race thing, but it isn't. If it was racially motivated, the guy would dislike Wilson and Newton equally. It is obvious the guy prefers Wilson's actions and the way he carries himself over Newton - nothing more, nothing less.

Wilson is widely panned in the black community for being a sellout or fake. Think about that for a second - a guy who has done everything asked of him in an incredibly humble way is criticized by his own race (although not exclusively) for being fake. What are we implying when we accept that kind of thinking? Are we not condoning the idea that "acting black" and being 'well-behaved', humble, and commercially successful are mutually exclusive?

When the black community embraces Newton and his actions as being real while dismissing Wilson and his actions as a sellout, it helps perpetuate the racism angle. That kind of thinking is why disliking Cam because of his antics becomes disliking Cam because he is black.

The media is simply looking for a story from ' deflate gate' , spy gate, Terrell Owens broken leg & Dwight Freeney"s ankle ,etc.......

This is not some altruistic issue for the media.

If Cam Newton doesn't give the "I'm an African American........ " answer ,but gives some cliche answer this story doesn't have the legs.

Cut or shave the cord ( no more 24 hour sports) like I have & your problem is mostly solved.

Doug Williams was a pretty big story but I don't remember Lovie Smith vs Dungy being anything more than a ' by the way' or ' oh that's cool' thing.

Which is a good thing when 2 Black Coaches in a SuperBowl is really no big deal.

24 hour sports simply needs stories & Cam Newton helped to serve it up with his answer.

This would have been the same issue with Russell Wilson ,but he knows cliche / sport speak real well & would not feed into it.

I completely disagree. I think people would assume it's because of his antics, not his skin color.

That is so ridiculous. Who is going to label you a racist for having that opinion? Internet trolls and ESPN talking head personalities (i.e., TV trolls)?

Stop pretending you know everything black people think and that all black people think the same thing.

There is your problem.

Don't give ESPN attention outside of watching a live game. When watching the game, mute the TV.

It is easy. I've been doing this for 13 years now.

I took it a step further and cancelled my entire tv subscription from Cox. They were getting my $15/month whether I watched or not, so there. I loathe everything about that network and refuse to watch on my television anymore.

Am I wrong?

Who is more widely embraced in the black community, Cam Newton or Russel Wilson?

Why do you think that is?

I'll make sure to ask for the official numbers at the next black people meeting.

It has to be because one is "blacker" than the other because unlike white people, who can have a variety of reasons for disliking an athlete, black people only have that one reason.

Some of the criticisms of Cam is racist. You have white players who dance and celebrate plays and they are not labeled bad guys just because of this.

Aaron Rodgers is making nice money from the " Discount Double Check" commercials & his championship belt celebrations.
