It wouldn't surprise me if the Cavs made the finals in less than 14 games

However, their ONLY realistic shot at actually winning it, is if OKC were to recover against SA ( ) and then beat Golden State (which is unlikely if Curry is close to in form).

Let's be real, Irving and Love are only all stars on one end. Want a look at how that series would go on the defensive end? Look at the home matchup where they were available. It was bad. Irving and Love were PNR'd to death.

And they will be PNR'd to death if they make the finals.

Would be hilarious if the Cavs sweep their way to the Finals, only to be swept in the Finals.

Irving was great on the defensive end in Game 1 of the Finals last year.

Cavs were up 2-1 last year without Love and Irving. You get a couple of good games from JR and they can beat Golden State

Completely different team if those 2 play last year. Cavs tried to make it a fight but with L&I it would be a dance. They don't want to dance with GS

Just give me a conference finals of GS/SAS and CLE/MIA, and I'm good. Don't really care how the Finals plays out if I get those 2 matchups.

Yep.

I'm not sure if people are that biased or just willfully ignorant.

The Cavs nearly beat Golden State last year without 2 of their best 3 players.

It would be a good series.

Irving was able to tip balls away when Curry got past him for a layup.

IMHO Cavs would have won with Irving healthy all series.

Green is playing better now, so its not the same GSW team now.

I am not sold yet on GSW taking out Portland.
Lilliard had a terrible shooting day and still got 30 points in game 1.

Funny that y'all play the transitive property game when the reality is, they would have been destroyed on defense if Love and Irving were healthy. If you want proof, look no further than at the second game these two teams played each other this season.

The transitive property game NEVER EVER works in sports. Don't play it. You will be disappointed if you do.

ETA: The only guy that gets it here is Hoops.

That's not the transitive property though.

How so?

I'm taking into account that a team without 2 major starter was competitive against the front runners for this year.

My argument is not unreasonable nor ignorant in the slightest.

The argument against that is that it forced the Cavs into a style of play that suited them better against the Warriors.

Anyway what I specifically addressed from your post was "nearly beat".... That didn't happen

Post the Cavs net rating from last year with Lebron/Love/Irving on the court v Lebron/No Love/No Irving on the court.

Except they didn't.

If the Finals go down like this, it'll be probably the 2nd worst of Lebron's last 6 Finals teams going up against not just the best of the 6,but maybe the best team ever.

Sure Cleveland has a chance, but this is by far the worst chance Lebron has had in the last 6 years.

Except it isn't. Last year was by far the worst chance LeBron had as his team was missing 2 key players.

exactly.

fully expect the cavs to give the warriors all they can handle. and i think there's about a 35-40% chance they would beat them.

Regular Season
LBJ/Love/Irving +13.6pts/100 possessions 1400+ minutes

Best LBJ lineup without Love/Irving
LBJ/Delly/Thompson +16.3pts/100 possession 500+ minutes

Best Playoff Combo
Delly/LBJ/Shump +9.8pts/100 possessions 300 minutes

there aren't any numbers on the big 3 combo in last years playoffs because Love got hurt so early.

in the one game irving played last year in the finals, the cavs took the game to overtime on the road.

i think they'd be better off with one of the best 15 players in the league, as opposed to not having one of the best 15 players in the league.

but that's just my stupid opinion
