I've never been this disinterested in random games. The NFL has never been must watch for me, but I enjoy the shite out of it. But this year, I could take it or leave it. The 1 o'clock games in my area these past few weeks have been horrible.

You must be a Saints, Cowboys, or Texans fan.

But to answer your question, no, this is not the worst season i'v seen. No real blow out numbers fantasy wise but i'v enjoyed the season so far.

The major issue I have is the flags and injuries. Way too many flags, way too many injuries. Throwing more flags isn't reducing the injuries like they're intended to do. I can't stand when I'll watch a drive and see two or three flags within a couple plays

Original thread While I agree that the NFL has been pretty bad this year, CFB hasn't much better IMO. QB play, in particular, has been atrocious this year.

I also find it amusing how so many of you bring up too many commercials during NFL games. Do you watch those SEC games on CBS? Those go over 4 hours.

Less flags
Specifically defensive holding and def pass interference. Called way too often. Roughing the QB called way too often

I'm guessing you don't have that many seasons of comparative data. Maybe you weren't around during the strike year. Also, there was time when there was no Thursday night football, no Sunday night football, and no Monday night football. Back then, in each market you might only have one game. If you were living in Mississippi or Louisiana at that time, then you know what that means--you were watching some pretty bad games.

When you have the ability to watch so many games, you find out that not all 32 teams are SB worthy. In other words, the exposure exposes the truth, which you might never know about if you could only watch one game.

I watched the game last night. Awesome to see Lynch back. I'm not complaining because I know the alternative is worse.

It's not the worst, but it's getting increasingly more difficult to watch the games with the penalties and commercials. And frick Fan Duel and Draft Kings...stop already.

This.

Casual fans like my wife have just stopped watching. Obviously, I won't stop, but its going to push away people like her.

I am hoping the NFL gets the worst market match up possible for Super Bowl 50.

Like a Bengals / Cardinals Super Bowl,

Granted this would probably be a great game between two good teams, but the NFL would hate for this to be the contest for their golden Super Bowl.

Completely ignore the rest of my reply. Like I said, there needs to be a reduction in penalties like defensive holding and pass interference. The rule needs to be changed to allow more contact with receivers. The offense has an inherent advantage right now, specifically when defending against receivers in man coverage or jump ball situations. We need to allow more contact in those situations for defensive players. Offensive players get away with more contact than the defense does, and that doesn't make sense

Saturday is the football day more me. Nfl players are just like robots. I'll watch if nothing else to do, but won't go out of my way to watch it.

There needs to be a reduction in players committing those penalties. I am guessing the league told the teams that they would be calling the games like they should.

Corners are getting called for holding a shirt or putting a hand on the receiver's hip. Those are basic techniques for corners. If you can't do that it's near impossible to cover a receiver and keep and eye on the ball. Which forces corners to either play the ball and probably lose their man, commit the penalty by hand on the hip or jersey, or play the receiver and ignore the ball (which results in most of the pass interference calls you see).

The defensive holding call is why small receivers are running wild this year (Edelman, Allen, T Benjamin, etc), you don't need to shake a defender off anymore, you just have to make a cut, and the defender will either get called for the holding penalty, or the receiver will separate.

I understand some people want to see the offenses prosper, but it's really taking away from the game IMO. Corners are having to take the penalties so they don't give up big plays, since they can't keep a hand on the receiver now

I think there's a long term effect here as well. As high school kids watch corners get beat on like this every game, they're gonna want to switch to offense, and we're going to lose more talent at corner in the future, making the problem even worse

I have watched maybe quarter this year. I have listened to few games on the radio because I have been traveling every Sunday. The only reason I slightly pay attention is fantasy.

cutting the cord has defiantly played a major role in this.

If I had redzone I would be more inclined to watch.

no one even knows what a catch is. The past few years every time they do a review. The former ref expert comes in and is completely wrong

This is my biggest beef with the NFL. They adjust little things every offseason and it has fricked with the product.

What I would like to see:
- Full contact within 5 yards as it is now
- single hand contact until the ball is in the air
- single hand contact after the ball is in the air for any corners covering receivers away from the ball
- ball in the air, same as it is now
My goal would be to allow contact that doesn't interfere with receiving the ball, but does allow some route interference/coverage. A single hand doesn't allow most players enough leverage to push anyone around, but it lets you use hand on hip, jersey and a bit of rerouting
