The way he played and completely carried his team to a win was amazing and felt like I was in a time machine. Guy was the best player on the court even at 37.

I'll comment on yours even though there's one just like it right below

None come to mind that I have seen. I'm sure there are some guys like Wooden and such back in the day that were just as impressive.

Though the guys that go out on top SB champs have to be considered, especially Elway going back to back to end his career

Elway and Sampras were better. Kobe's up there though. Probably the best non-championship ender.

Was I the only one hoping Buss prerecord a retirement speech to Kobe before he reached the point of no return?

It was a meaningless exhibition game for all intents and purposes. Yea, he balled out, but it was very Harlem Globetrotterish.

Thought this was a joke question at first.

60 points on 50 shots in an almost literally meaningless game to bring the Lakers to a 17-65 record, coming dead last in the West.

ETA: Is Recency Effect the right term for it?

If you watched that game and didn't think it was something very special I feel sorry for you.

If you didn't watch the game I also feel sorry for you.

Sorry bro.

Thanks for your sympathies.

I'll go with someone that ended their career with a championship.

Just talking recent retirements, D. Robinson went out pretty well. He pulled down 17 boards in his last game and won the championship. That's my vote..
