Is this a chop block?
Here is the video.
I'm not complaining, I'm just curious what people think. The center is supposed to block to the right on this play, but the NG gets his hands on him before he can get away. The LG cut blocks the NG as he is supposed to do on that play. We get these called against us all the time (thanks largely to Frank Beamer), but I consider it to be the defender's fault that he engaged a guy who is trying to run past him.

Yes, because the C was engaged with the NG.

If you see nothing wrong with your guard diving at the back of a defender's knee there's no point in continuing this discussion.

Do you have a problem with the RG's block on that play?

Wha?

That play is designed for the center to pull to the right. He wasn't able to do that because the NG engaged before he could pull away.

Either it's a poorly designed play or Finch is slow as heck. Either way, it's a chop block

re: Is this a chop block?
Yes, if your guard is worth a shite he should be able make that block with out cutting the nose. Chop block is a among the dirtiest moves in football
