women out there that bowl on a men's level in the pros. I don't see why they couldn't in college.

apples to apples is women in college vs men in college. that is the thread topic.

I watched a ton of bowling in my youth.
Stephen F Austin women won the natty of D-1

265 score that the Ladyjacks hurled in the third frame was the only pin total higher than the 247 final.

The surprising part of the Ladyjacks dominant performance in the final frame was its location. SFA put up scores of 160 and 164 in two previous games in the left lane, before throwing the 247 in the deciding seventh game.

160 and 164. left lane, oil issues.

national champs with a 160.

If it was just rifle shooting, maybe they'd be better. But if it's just rifle shooting, I'd wager the men would be better. And then there's the other part of biathlon where you need to power through Nordic ski... advantage men.

Triathlon, there's always a big gap too.

Tightrope balance??

Women were gifted with child birth. Men were supposed to protect and provide. Why people want to fight this, I don't know. We aren't the same and never were meant to be the same.

I once played a pickup game at a local YMC against Phil Ivy and packed his lunch on a layup

Women sought development on mass scale after divorce became routine.

Has there ever been any stunt/exhibition where a woman softball player tried to hit a baseball against her equivalent skill level (like a college player against a college player)? I know we've seen a baseball player try to hit a softball pitcher, but wasn't sure about the other way around.

the problem with any physical-based sport is that men and women are simply built differently. men are bigger, have more testosterone, bigger bone density, more muscle mass, more extreme fast-twitch muscles, etc

the problem with more mental-based competitions is that IQ distribution in men and women is very different. male IQ is much more polar in its distribution. so there are a metric frick ton more stupid males than females but more brilliant men than women. the males who become great in mental-based competitions are going to be skewed towards that pole and there is simply a much greater chance of an edge

it's a rigged deck

This could be because it takes a longer time for women to get there in certain professions. There aren't too many women CEO's today either, but there are way more than 20 years ago, and way less than there likely will be in 20 years.

In cooking, it sometimes takes years to get "there" and many women started going to culinary school generations after men did.

Which would have been good enough for 9th place in the mens 500 free competition.

While impressive 9th is not competing.

Is chess or darts a D1 sport?

Not a sport but even so women can't compete with the men in chess. The currently active women's world #1 who is actually fairly dominant to her peers would be just out of the top 100 compared to men. There has only ever been 1 woman, a pretty extreme outlier, who could compete at a truly elite and even level with the top men.

As you can see with the chess example there is more to it than just physical limitations. Maybe it is mostly a cultural thing. I don't know. But in general, women just don't care about competing like men do.

I remember a Sweet 16 women's basketball team came to play pickup at the college gym one day when there season was over. They played against random not very good men and they got destroyed. Destroyed.
