Is Steve Spagnuolo the 2nd best modern D Coordinator in the NFL?

I think Belichick is pretty unrivaled in this area as a DC and a defacto DC as HC, Spagnuolo is one of the best big game coordinators I can remember and he seems to be able to adapt his scheme to his personnel.

Dick Lebeau would probably be his only real competition, but Spagnuolo has far more big game skins on the wall.

Whatever the ranking, the combo of Spagnuolo and Reed is pretty unstoppable at this point.

He was terrible as the Saints DC. He had some talent, too.

Really tells you the groceries the front office put on the table for him with the Saints. Too often we blame coaches when the Jimmies and Joes fail.

He was great with the Giants. Was a bad hc with the rams, then was a bad fit in New Orleans! Hes found plenty of success in Kansas City since.

It is crazy. He was the worst defensive coordinator in the league by a mile with the Saints.

I still don’t think the jury has settled on whether he’s good or not in KC. They do make plays when needed, but they still give up plenty of yards and points. KC obviously mostly wins games because of their offense. Not only scoring, but they’re good at keeping the ball too.

I don’t think Spags is a great coach. They are good at getting sacks and Snead is a playmaker in the secondary

I think Monte Kiffen is definitely a better DC.

The Chiefs have the number two scoring defense at 16.8 points per game allowed, behind Baltimore at 16.2 points per game. They're also fourth in opponent yards per game at 294.7. The Chiefs are in the SB because of their defense, not their offense.

He's good but not someone I would usually think of.

Can you define plenty? 2nd fewest yards allowed and 2nd fewest points allowed this year

KC was 15th in points scored. They were 26th in giveaways (gave up the 7th most turnovers)

This is his 5th year (coincidentally his first was KC’s first title) and he’s going for ring #3 with a defense in which the sum far exceeds the parts. What evidence does the jury lack at this point?

I would spend more time actually watching him and the Chiefs as you appear to be confusing them with another DC/team. There’s no other explanation to get it so horribly wrong

Not this year. The defense has carried this team for the entire season.

Spags is going to have his work cut out for him next year, though, because there's a good chance Chris Jones catches a bag and finds a new home. Sneed is going to cost them as well.

They also need another stud DT to balance Chris Jones (or fill in his huge gap if he leaves).

Sorry I only watch the Chiefs when they play a quality opponent, which is rare.

I imagine most of their good defensive numbers are boosted by playing one of the worst divisions in football, and beating up on the lowly Raiders, Chargers, and Broncos twice per season. Without the Chiefs, that division isn’t even as good as the NFC South....

The non-division opponents included the powerhouses of:
JAX
CHI
NYJ
MIN
GB
NE
CIN without Burrow

Hope they win though, I hate SF

You had two choices. You could have said my bad and backed down but you decided to double down on stupid.
