re: Is Pete Carrol a better coach than Saban? Spurrier? Jimbo?

spurrier would have failed anywhere he went, he was lazy as shite for a nfl coach, and saban ran from the nfl because they had not made good personel decisions in miami not just drew brees, carroll drafted way better then either of them

Where in there does it say that USC played Bush knowing that he was ineligible?

They(athletic dept, not Carrol) should have known, putting your head in the sand doesn't get you off the hook.

So the athletic department is supposed to investigate every time a player's parents move into a new home, even if those parents live in a different city?
BTW, I'm still waiting for the NCAA to come down on, say, UNC... but not holding my breathe. This is your argument is a joke.

I really just watched this - LINK
The NCAA has a long glorious history of being arbitrary, disparate, contradictory, self-contradictory, vengeful, callous and careless...and full of a big bag of politics, money and corruption which informs and guides their decisions, including but not limited to, disciplinary decisions.
Anyone who defends the NCAA on anything is beyond mental growth.

I agree, but 2 wrongs don't make the other right

1) Said player was deemed ineligible after the fact
2) USC did not play him knowing that he was ineligible
3) The funding the player's family received was not from USC, and
4) Such funding did not provide the player with any incentive to attend or remain at USC, meaning,
5) USC did not benefit from the money that was given to the player from an individual who wanted first dibs at the player AFTER he left school.
Holy Crap...
A non-USC homer stating the facts.
Look...even USC people bailed on Carroll to a degre when he left...but that's just sour grapes...like all fans opinions of Carroll amongst LSU.
The fact - as Sherman writes - he still retunrs for his "A better LA" program and does that philonphry...is beyond amazing.
Even as a USC homer, I thought it was all show.
We loved him as our coach...because he was always upbeat and positive...a trait often foreing. But we hated the initial hire.
I don't begrudge him for leaving. The NCAA was full of crap. But his coaching style was awesome and a breath fo fresh air compared to traditional coaching styles.
LSU fans will always hate him because he proclaimed USC National Champs after the Rose Bowl.
Well, they were #1 in both polls. What is he supposed to say? We suck?
Objettively, he's done what few have done. And Switzer doesn't count - that team was ready made.
Carroll built USC and the Seahawks. Whether he wins the big game is for naught..he got them there.
A non-traditional NFL team...with no history of greatness.
The NCAA ruling was less about Bush and more about this Style...that you could be so open and carefree.
This wasn't Albert Means. Bush wasn't enticed to attend USC by boosters.
He was enticed to leave by wanna-be NFL agents.
Normal people know this.
If Carroll wins the SB...he deserves the praise. The guy is not a horrible person just because LSU fans feel that they had to share a title with the national media.
And USC won it on the field the next year with or without Bush...despite what gte NCAA tries to rewrite. You can't do it.
Art of tennis. That's his Bible.
Saban needed luck and screwing over LSU worse.

Pete Carroll is a great coach because he is a great motivator.
Instead of implementing the megalomaniac disciplinarian persona Saban uses, he preaches positivity and team comradery.
His players seem to completely buy into his message and in turn play loose and without anything to lose.
His best teams at USC (2004,2005) would beat any of Saban's Alabama teams.
And frick all the sorry dumb arse LSU fans who irrationally hate him.
