Is Pete Carrol a better coach than Saban? Spurrier? Jimbo?

Not flaming, but what would the perception be? Just winning an NFC Championship plus the titles at USC - he's already done more than a lot of coaches out there have ever managed to do. If he somehow manages to win a Super Bowl and hoists the Lombardi Trophy, would it cement him as one of the greatest coaches ever? Better than Paterno? Better than Bowden?

Where does getting a Super Bowl ring put you in the mix? And by the way, I don't think he has much of a chance, but just wondering what the SEC Rantards would think about something like that.

Being a good coach in the NFL =/= Being a good coach in college

You can't use Carrol's NFL career against Spurrier or Saban.

I think he's a great coach, but I'm going to do better with Russell Wilson as QB than I will with Culpepper.

Because that would be the definition of comparing oranges to apples.

Saban and Spurrier failed in the NFL that's the point

I'd argue that Spurrier was thrown into the fire, wouldn't you?

I would think Harbaugh should be in the discussion. He hasn't won the whole thing at either level, but he made Stanford relevant again and brought San Fran to the NFC championship the past three years.

No I didn't

He got hired into a dumpster fire franchise of the Redskins managed by an idiot. Spurrier didn't do himself any favors taking Danny, but it was doomed from the start.

I don't think it's any secret that being a good coach in college doesn't mean you'll be a good coach in the NFL.

I thought this was elementary. Forgive me.

ETA: It worked for Carrol, but this is only an exception.
