Last time in CLE management was content to settle for mediocrity, so long as shitters were in the seats.

LeBron packed them in, and that was all they needed.

LeBron knew that would continue, so he went championship hunting elsewhere.

Just seems like he opted out to ensure that the office be aggressive an give him a team to lead to titles. That way the threat of him leaving keeps them honest.

Just my random thoughts on the matter. Thanks for reading.

He will also make a lot more money by opting out, but yeah it also puts a ton of pressure of the FO.

No, I don't think so.

He opted out because the NBA is about to get a new raised salary cap. LeBron wants whatever the new max will be. D-Wade is going to try for the same thing.

This has all been explained ad nauseum. Everyone knows why it's happening.

But a select few have to get their Lebron fix in.

I guess that's why they fired Mike Brown, signed Shaq, traded for Jamison etc.

This is proof of management trying but let's be real. Shaq was well past done, Jamison was all but done, and everybody fires Mike Brown. Says a lot that this was all they could get on board.

I had no clue Allen left the celtics in 2012 after the Cavs beat them in the conference finals and joined the Heat for the NBA finals. Who knew that was legal right?

It does kinda keep the FO in check, but it's not like Gilbert hasn't been willing to spend money. He's just sorta, sucked at it.

Surprised no one sees the motive as merely $$. The caps go up significantly in the next few years so signing a 1+1 with player option is smart.

I do wish teams would push back on occasion though. You "had" LBJ on your team last year, yet you didn't win the title so as an organization, when does push come to shove and say "no thanks".

Fired a coach nobody wants. . .and signed has-beens on the cheap, about to retire?

Yes, that's exactly why. At least you are paying attention.
